I have an old IBM laptop that's actually pretty decent. I also sometimes browse the web with the ps3.

3.5" floppy drive? People still use those? :D

If you have to install windows xp on a raid array you will need a 3.5" floppy drive to preload the raid drivers (you'd think you could load them off a cd, just like windows itself but no ### micrsoft insists on an a: drive) Vista corrects this problem by allowing a:/cd/or dvd driver install.

I love the white drive face on the otherwise stealthy looking box, very nice cheese points

I have e4500 intel core 2 duo, and another desktop socket 939 athlon 64 4200+ x2, and laptop with turion x2 1.8ghz, my intel desktop has 2tb of space (4x 500gb), all sataii, 2gb ddr2 ram. I want to upgrade my aging ati x800xl pci-e in there though. I output sound via spdif to surround sound receiver, all digital all the time. The space is not for porn, its HTPC for x264 bluray/hd-dvd :)

edit, floppy drive whoa. It's been years since I had one of those.

I don't believe you.
What motherboard, exactly, is that? NF2 chipset?
What ram are you using?
What is your FSB set to?
What timings do you have your ram set to?
What is your CPU multiplyer set to?
What is your core voltage?
What is your VDIMM set to?
What variety of Athlon XP are you using? Thoroughbred? Barton? A mobile Barton?
What is the stepping of your CPU?

And of course, what are you using to cool that CPU, and is it Prime95 stable?

This is my old workhorse, once king of the heap, now ancient technology. But as long as I can play Team Fortress 2 with all the options on high ( no AA or AF though) and maintain ~40fps @ 1024x768 I'm satisfied.

Athlon XP-Mobile Barton 2400+ OC'ed @ 2.4Ghz 1.78v

That is possibly the most outrageous response I've ever seen in my life.

I'm sorry if I seemed abrupt in my above post, I was just really surprised and was interested in the equipment and settings used to achieve this. I just simply didn't believe it, not without a screen of CPU-z at least. I in no way meant to "hate" on anything.

I was a professional technician for a number of years. I'm certified and qualified to work on a variety of types of hardware and software, as well as network administration.
Credentials are one thing, but experience is another. I've been system building since 1995 and have completed dozens and dozens machines, constructed by my hands. I can even recite the code names used for every AMD and Intel desktop processors ever released including when each die shrink came out - the size, in microns, the technology was based on. I have hands on experience with almost every type of computer technology there is, be it water cooling using a hot and cold side 200watt peltier, or overclocking the crap out of an Athlon XP.

All that aside, I'm using the same technology you are, if you're using an Athlon XP like you say. I know from first hand what it takes to get a Socket A(462) CPU past 2.7GHz. And the answer isn't ice in your water cooling setup. Very few individuals have ever been able to overclock an Athlon XP to 3.0Ghz or beyond. And fewer of them were stable. Some even had to use liquid nitrogen cooling to achieve subzero core temps to allow such an overclock.

The Athlon XP was released in many flavors. The only ones of consequence here are T-bred, Barton, and XP-M (aka Mobile Barton). The old T-bred 1700+ cpus could easily overclock to 2.3 and even 2.4 GHz with minimal voltage increases from the stock 1.5v. Then came the new overclocking champion, the Barton 2500+. Stock clocked at 1.83Ghz with a fat 512kb L2 cache. This puppy would soar up to 2.2Ghz like butter and even hit 2.5Ghz with some serious voltage and water cooling.

There was a time where overclockers worldwide were all in support of AMD if they were true enthusiasts. Realizing the superiority they held over the Pentium 4. The last hurrah for the Socket A platform was the Mobile Barton. It was really the same chip as the desktop Barton, only it was designed for use in laptops so it had to be incredibly efficient with its energy use and heat production. That meant that AMD used only the best of the best chips to get wattage down to a cool 35w on some models with a very low core voltage. The result for overclockers though, armed with an NF2 board and some wicked water cooling, called this their holy grail. It extended the life of their enthusiast type PC equipment by allowing us to overclock further than ever. Users were achieving 2.5 - 2.7 GHz on air alone. But when water was involved some people found 2.8 and 2.9 GHz to be in reach. This is all, of course, with very high voltage and high-end cooling equipment. CPU's at these speeds could dominate P4 systems running in excess of 3.4GHz in benchmarks.

So you see, if you really have achieved this feat, you would likely have a much better case, watercooling or even liquid nitrogen feeding onto the bare die of your processor. Your picture did not indicate this to be true. Your case, cooling, and arrangement of components are insufficient to overclock an Athlon XP to such levels.

These are the current world records. Some in excess of 3.5Ghz.

All of them used water cooling or liquid nitrogen.

P.S. you're an idiot.

I got a 900mhz athlon aka t-bird overclocked to 1ghz ;Multipler hasn't not been changed. :( , 384MB ram SDRAM that is :(. I think the FSB 100mhz . I had this computer since 00. Never took a dump on til motherboard gave out. Im running XP and works like a champ. I've seen so many newer computer running like crap because of its preinstalled bull crap software.

The only computer picture that I apparently have also has an ex-girlfriends ass in it.
