Lambo vertical Doors [Merged 8-7]

A friend of mine has lambo doors on his car, and he doesn't even open them all the way anymore. He opens the door far enough to where the door doesn't go up and he gets in. He can't stand them anymore, heh. I've also had to talk the hubby out of lambo doors a couple times. I just don't see the point of spending $1000 plus for some brackets.

Now, every person has his or her taste, and I respect that. But I don't get how people manage with these "Lambo Kits".

I had a customer at my dad's shop spend $1200 on lambo brackets for his mustang (v6 LOL). Installed and everything. Even with a gas strut, it's such a PITA to open and close properly (and it was done correctly).

Actually my friend's Honda's lambo doors where a PITA to get to shut too. Don't how people use them. Unless as stated, used for show cars only.

Waste of money imo.

When we did shows. My roomates car, nobody made kits for the crx yet. So we got the 92-95 civic kit. bolts line up, but there were a few door modifications to work out. Eventually got it to fit.

In that year, EVERYBODY at Hot Import Night shows had these. The following year, seems like everyone took them off ### they got played out so much.

He HATED them so much. Ended up taking them out after 2 years. Looked good, just such a pain with bucket seats. To each their own though.

actually car fashion trend has change a lot in the last few years, the simpler the nicer, cars with simple body kits and graphics are the ones that are getting attention...

They make our cars look like they are going to fly way. I would say keep it stock and put it towards something that will actually make the car better/faster. Maybe if you put a flux-capacitor in the back seat as well I could go for it DOC?

If the OP had started a poll, by now you would see 98% no. 2% yes. It's a worthless modification unless you park between cars so closely, you can't ever get out. And if you're the type of driver to do so, you plain and simple don't care about other peoples doors hitting your fenders or quarters. *another trip to the body shop*. In fact, this kind of mod in my opinion depreciates any car's value.

Even LAMBO's don't have them anymore. They arose too many problems with fitment and well, stiff suspension, lots of driving and bumpy roads, it puts stress on the working parts for all the body panels and eventually, metal will deteriorate, along with bushings and fitment just becomes nasty.

There's only one COOL car that has similiar doors but I don't think Michael J. Fox or Doc Brown care to comment on this thread.

You better not be talking about the gul wing. dalorins*spelling* I HATE THOSE CARS

I personally like the look on the 2nd gens. Not saying I'd buy them! But the previous comments about spending all the money? Really because you can't go on here (dsmtuners) and find guys that have spent 60k+ making their cars fast. Somthing they're not stock! Just my thoughts. If you like them and can afford them. Forget all the people who don't pay for your ride, or ride in it!:thumb:

I have a complete Lambo kit in my house, I bought it much time ago for $400 but I've never used them because I'm doing a 420A to 4G63T swap on my GS 96 but in little time it will be finished and I don't know if I should use the kit or not.

Delorean:ohdamn: I used to own one and they are a very cool car to drive around in, and was more reliable than my DSM.

If the car was designed to have gullwings, lambo, or butterfly doors then they are cool and work right. They don’t open all flimsy and weak like the kits for regular doors.

The only reason they were ever even used on Lambos at all was so people could get out of the car in a parking spot. That's why the Gallardos don't have them (they aren't wide enough to need them). I would never add scissor doors to a car that didn't already have them.

Thats true for real gullwings also. People used to joke about they would park close to my Delorean so that I couldnt get out haha too bad it only takes about a foot of clearence to open, about the thickness of a regular door.

Do what YOU want to do. Either way, if you try selling them (just by viewing the comments here) you'll be taking a big hit on the price you sell them for. I would just use them for fun until they warp (if they ever do) and chuck them when they are done. You originally bought them to use, why not finish that thought?

I think it is the keonigsegg ccxr that has the door that pivots 90 degrees to open. They look nicer than lambo doors if you ask me but must have some insane engineering to work that way, just my .02

Awhile back I heard a story about a guy who put a lambo door kit on his car. He cheaped out in the regular ricer fashion, one day he is stepping out of his car when the support strut blows out. The door free falls and swings down breaking the guys leg at the shin! Must have hurt like a bi*** LOL.

I think people should do what they want to do, but nowadays people relate stuff like that to rice grinders so quickly I feel like it is a step backwards for import enthusiasts nowadays who are still recovering from the fast and the furious era.

Spilner was his undercover name, O'Connor was his "real" name in the movie.

I vote no on lambo doors. They are a huge waste of money IMO. And they are just way too played out and a PITA to deal with.

But in the end, it is your car, and you should do what you like with it.

hay man i got em on my gst until i can get the time to pick up the stock hinges thats suposed to be with it then they comin off and put on ebay. I used to like lambo doors when i was 9..........12 years ago but now its just played out plus why would you want to have to put out extra effort to push a Lambo door out and up, after a long days work. when you can have a regular door you can just push and be done with it?
