So I ran across a problem after I installed my new Harmonic Balancer/Crank Pulley. When I started the car, I heard a knocking noise then immediately turned off my car. Before the install I never have heard this noise, so I was wondering if this could be one of the balance shafts? The lower timing cover towards the back of the motor is where I am hearing the noise!

Can you guys help me resolve this problem, I will be taking the Timing cover off when i get off of work tonight.
Also I know it isn't a rod bearing, the noise isn't coming from the main engine area. I will try to reply asap I am at work ATM.

Those "notches" or "extra holes" as you're calling them, are just where they balanced it. Instead of adding weights (like they do when they balance your tires), they take material away from a pulley.
Thanks for the info bro. I am going to upload a video in the morning just to keep you guys posted.
