I am on the fence about keeping the Ac on my car I am getting ready to reinstall the motor and I was going to pull all the ac stuff out of the engine compartment and not put the compressor on the motor but now I am second guessing my self so I wanted your guys option. what did you guys do

Thanks
MP

I don't know about you but I live in weather where it's 90+ in the summer time so I would want to keep it and if your doing it for power it is a gain but not a big enough one to be sweating going down the road LOL.

Keep it, nothing beats having A/C in a car. When it's not on its not going to affect the power and unless it's a drag car you don't need the weight savings.

I admit that I wish I still had my A/C. Unless it's a dedicated track car I would keep it personally

For a DD Keep it!

For a weekend car its not a big deal without it. I don't drive mine much from the end of June to Mid Sept. It makes it easier to fit larger turbos & DP/WG when you can put a pusher fan in front of the rad and it was also easier to fit my FMIC. However, there are some local guys with full weight high 9 sec auto DSMs with AC & PS. I don't know how they fit the FMIC in there!

Keep it. I was thinking about removing mine this summer because it's empty / doesn't work anyway. But after spending May through August getting out of my car with a sweat stain down my back, I've decided to keep it. Driving 20 minutes in 100 degree heat sucks, especially when traffic is moving slow.

i deleted mine and i live in nebraska and if its hot out i just open the windows and sunroof but i also have been deployed twice and much more tolerable to heat its all up to you i dont regret it but it would be a good thing if i used my car to get my daughter

The two eclipses I have owned I didn't use AC just rolled down windows and the sun roof.I just removed my AC system from my current eclipse now but did help with my decision is that the compressor was not working haha.

It kinda sounds like im not the only one that dosent like sweting there ___ off for a little power gain there is nothing wrong with the system so ill probully just keep it in there

Thanks for all the input

If keeping the AC, do yourself a favor while the motor is out and go to the parts store and buy a pack of assorted AC orings and replace all of em while the motor is out, (its just easier to disconnect the hose and lines while the motor is out and the bumper is off the front end). Also, buy a new receiver/dryer, and install it once you have the motor in the car and all the ac lines hooked up. This is important as you wouldnt want the new dryer to be hooked up with the lines disconnected or the new dryer may absorb moisture from the outside air.

Or delete the factory unit and upgrade to this super cooler...

J/K...like others have stated, if it is your daily drive, I would keep it.

If no A/C just open the window huh? What if its hot, humid, and raining hard. That seems to be like one of those worst case scenarios.

I deleted my A/C, but my car isn't finished yet, plus I have a DD. My DSM is a weekend/track car, even though I plan to drive it up to the shootout 2014.

BTW here is your answer. Cool Blue.
Apparently these guys created a compact Air conditioning compressor & Condenser unit that can run off of 500wats (120v 60Hz AC). You can use this Blue Flash 120v converter to power the unit. Actually there is more research needed to see if this is actually a viable option, im sure you'll need more battery. This is going to take a toll on your electronic system, although I think there may be a fix for it.

I should reiterate that my 2g is a spyder and we all know these aren't meant for the winter or rainy days so I thought it was an easy decsion in my case. Plus I have a dd truck and a motorcycle so I can get around anytime of the year just fine.

I live in Alaska never have used a/c with any car that has had it installed.
Either I open the windows / sunroof and let the wind cool me off
OR I turn the heater to cold.
I will be DD my car and when I purchased the car it was installed but not connected so it did not work when I got it. I just pulled it all out.
What's the cost of refilling your refrigerant?

Canada does too count!

It was a hot summer here, and I spent many hours on the road, in traffic and on the highway. No A/C and no regrets. And the Talon is my daily.

Keep in mind, I also have no interior, 90a rated engine mounts, a 6 puck unsprung disc and non reclinable sparco seats, but I like it this way.

Forgot to mention, my heat is stuck on, since the temperature adjuster is broken at the back.
