The temp around where I live has recently dropped to about 30-40 degrees lately and all of a sudden I am getting alot more lifter tick then usual. I have 10W-40 Castrol syntec in here now, but it is has half his life left.

What may be causing this weird occurance, it does it after care is warm, come on for like 20 sec then totally stop.

What is up with this!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you have Lucas in your engine?...If not, get some. Sounds like your lifters are just getting old.

see thats the thing, I added about a half of quart of Lucas the other day when my oil was a little low and it seems they have been tickin more since then.

Could the oild just be to thick for the temp, lifters having hard time pumping?

Lucas has this synthetic stuff out now, saw it yesterday at advanced auto, it is lighter and made for imports.

I have that same problem but my car has like 214,000 on it so I expect alittle noise. I halfway sovled this problem by swiching to Mobil 1 15/50. A little more expensive but I didnt have as much lifter tick. And the motor and turbo liked the oil too. Not so sluggish. But you dont want to mix synthetic with non synthetic. Bad bad.

I agree, change to a thinner oil..WITH Lucas. Do a complete oil change though...and don't add a little Lucas...either dump it ALL in or nothing.

well, do you guys think it will be ok until the next oil change, i mean I road the car all day today and I hardly heard a sound.
