Toronto,
Hi everyone,

First of all, sorry for a long post. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have recently purchased a 2G (1997 Eagle Talon TSI AWD), the previous owner had the following installed,

EVO 16g, K&N Cone and Intake piping, Ported exhaust manifold and 3” all the way.

I have purchased a 1G BOV and in the processing of getting Dave Brode’s UICP.

Here are my questions:

1) How much HP and boost is the EVO 16g safely capable of?
2) Should I remove the factory Boost Control Solenoid Restriction (aka Boost limiter), as a lot of sites suggested, and then put on an aftermarket boost controller?
3) Should I go with mechanical or electrical boost controller?
4) If electrical boost controller is a better choice, is their boost reading reliable, should I still invest in a mechanical boost gauge?
5) What is the factory SMIC capable of handling?

(The reason I am not going to FMIC, is the cops here are pretty tough on mods, being pulled over and having the whole car visibly inspected is not uncommon, so I am trying to have the car looking as stock as possible, to avoid being pull over in the first place)

6) If I am not planning to further upgrade my turbo, do I need to upgrade my fuel pump and/or fuel injector? If so, what should I go for? (I am thinking 190 lph and 550cc, if needed)
7) I understand that the factory fuel regulator has a base pressure of 43.5 psi, if I go with the above combination, without changing the regulator (based on some posts read from this forum, it is fine to do so), will my base pressure change?
8) If all of the above are said and done, I will need some way to control these mods, I am considering the ECU EPROM offered by DSMchip, has anyone had experience on it? And please comment on the product if possible.

Thanking everyone in advance.

1) sorry don't know

2)Actually when u get MBC you disconnect the BCS. BSC doesn't hold the higher boost all too well

3) It's really up to you. I'm happy with MBC, they are cheap alos.

4)^^^^

5) Just get FMIC and put mesh infront that way it's hard to tell it's there...

6) Fuel pupm is the only thing needed bot stage 1 but it's aklways good to upgrade the injectors also....
