Hey guys, I just bought, or am in the process of buying a 94 Gs, Ive already looked at the car and the deals set. This is my first time dealing with the 1st gen, but Ive wanted one for a while.. Ive been looking around on the forums a bit and I cant seem to find a good thread about just general information on the 1g N/T ..
my plan for the car is to just use it as my DD for a while, and SAVE SAVE SAVE until i get enough money to do a complete rebuild...for now, I want to keep it NA just to save some maintenance money and also money to buy a factory turbo kit, ecu, all that good stuff.

Ive read the "All motor 1g" thread, which is good and gives a bit of info of modifying it without going turbo, but I was just looking for an informational thread to answer some questions I have.. like what, if any, are the differences between a 1g N/t and a turbo, obviously the turbo versions have a turbo, and a different computer, injectors, Ive read they have a lower compression out of factory than the N/T, but as for more detailed differences... like the components of the engine, suspension, or the drivetrain, ? If someone could PLEASE show me a few threads I could read thru and just get as much info on this as I can, I would appreciate it.

I've looked up some stuff, I was just trying to find some sort of detailed description of the different trim levels, not just the obvious like the engine, tranny, things like that. The guy I bought it from mentioned the gsx bumper is different then the gs, because the gas tank is different (due to the driveshaft I would assume). I'm eventually going to rebuild it as a gsx, but I'm keeping it stock for now to save money, so I can do it the right way not half ass.

Making a 1g a AWD from a FWD is a damned nightmare. Look it up first. The entire rear of the vehicle is different. All of it. Do a search for that.

You can add power to yours sure, but you may as well accept that you're staying fwd (unless you want to waste bookoo cash) and then hunt down and find a awd 1g to build.

If anything, FWD Turbo conversion is doable if the parts are there. You can either turbo the NT engine (I recommend running it on E85 in that case, or keep the boost down), build your NT engine with either turbo pistons or forged internals, or just swap a turbo engine into it.

The NT block does not have oil squirters like the turbo version. They can be machined, tapped and threaded though. Squirters are optional anyways, meaning you don't really have to have them. If you decide to build the NT block then I would go with forged internals and you won't need the squirters.

So would it be cheaper and easier to build my N/T motor or would it end up cheaper to buy a new turbo block and build from there?

Option 3... It'd be cheaper to just bolt on a turbo kit to your existing setup and wire in the necessary sensors (I.e. turbo MAS, knock sensor, etc.). The second cheapest would be to buy a used turbo motor from somewhere.
