Thanks for the heads up i didnt even think of that.. but the thickness of the bracket helps so it wont reach the core. But those bolts he had sucked.. Im guessing i would know if i punctured the core.

i found all the stuff i needed at home depot ie bolts, brackets ...... The brackets that came look ok but i went and got 2 more bigger ones .... i used the 2 big brackets that came with the core to bolt top and bottom in the middle to the 2 bolts that are on the support bracket ...then i got 2 straight brackets and put them underneath bolted to the bolts that are in that metal piece under the radiator .... the bolt size is 1/4 20 i think just make shure you get the same length ....

I'm glad you guys said something, cause I have a habit of over tightening bolts/nuts. Wouldn't a small washer for the bolts help? ;)

Also my AC doesn't work, so what would I need to remove that ac thing in front of the radiator? I'd like to remove as much sh* outa the way of the radiator and fmic as I can before I put this front bumper back on :)

I bought that FMIC. I love the look off it, but I haven't plummed it yet :thumb:

Ok I got my fmic mounted today, and as I was tightening the last screw (the one on the top) it snapped in half, I'm sayin that I tightened it less than I do my own valve cover bolts, and thats pretty loose! I sat there going wtf?!

But so far I have the pass. side piping done and the drive side piping comes tomorrow along with the sawing of the cosmetics and wiring of the slim fan, and then the dsmlink logs for you guys probably either tomorrow night or friday ;)

That's wierd, I cranked my bolts down and had no problem. I wasn't even careful about it LOL. I guess I got lucky...

BTW I'm gettin DSMLink in the next couple weeks too so I'll have some logs to post. I've always used palm'n'stein and the player doesn't work for me so I never could get logs on my comp or here on tuners :(

I probably will, I'll have to take my pipes back off again soon to repaint them and figure out some way to keep the inside of the pipes from rusting like they are.

I'll just take pictures of the ways I cut the pipes and such. I've changed 98GST's design a tad bit to aquire for my poor location of the BOV flange (I didnt bother to mark it up, I just got my friend to weld it onto the pipe) Plus I think his pass. side pipes hang about a inch or two lower and are pushed into weird angles. I havnt been able to get in touch with him to make sure. Me and him will be doing a write up on how to do these pipes for anyone else who wants to buy this IC in the near future and hopfully get it put in the tech section of DSMTuners, because I know this thread will eventually get buried and lazy people will be making new threads asking about info on it :thumb: . Personally I think the IC is quite nice aside from the weak screws. So if anyone has any part #'s for better screws they would like me to include, feel free to do so.

Just an FYI, he raised the prices its no longer 195, its 235 now. He also now has the option called "Backdoor" with has the passenger side pointed to the engine bay rather than the one we are discussing. That one is 275 from what I can see. Just an update. Im still debating on what to get for myself.

Would have been nicer if he had included that "back door" in my fmic for the true short route piping. Oh well at least I got mine while it was still $195. I'm stuck trying to get my front bumper back on. It's hacked all to hell :( Oh well I was going to buy a 98-99 bumper anyways. I should be done with it tomorrow and I'll get those DSMLink logs out :)

THESE ARE NOT JR INTERCOOLERS. THEY ARE JOHNNYRACECAR. TWO DIFFERENT PEOPLE. Your picture = JR. Our pictures/ic = johnnyracecar. And also, yes...the JR will support a T04b.

I got my IC on and all that crap and drove around but my pipe towards the driver side rear (half of the u bend i cut) keeps blowing off, so I have to bead that or something, this town is lame and nobody sells t-bolt clamps here.

I set dsmlink to throw a CEL at 220deg. cuz it never goes higher than 210. and well it was throwin a CEL off an on the whole way home but my temp guage never moved. I havn't hooked up my pass side Spal slim fan yet so I'm running w/o a fan on that half, but since its like 30deg out and raining, I figured it wouldn't overheat, but my overflow container went dry and my radiator ran almost completely out of fluid. So I duno wtf?

Also I got this problem too: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=165211&goto=newpost

You have to create space for air to get around the IC and to the radiator with any FMIC. Check out my pictures of my install for how I cut my bumper support to allow air to go above the IC. Haven't had a single problem with over heating.

I started blowing pipes again after not having a problem. T bolts fixed that so I'd suggest ordering some online if you can't get your pipes beaded right away.

Bumper support? What's that? Heh. I didn't put my bumper support back in. And instead of getting T-bolts I double clamped the pipes down and they stopped blowing off.

and 250 for the 8' 2 door, why not a 8' one door? Hrm, maybe I'll have to ask him that....

isnt that style sorta anti-productive? cause i mean the air just slams into a wall essentially.

instead of having mandrel bent turns, it just hits a wall and finds the next best direction to go.

Ok I used my neighbors arch welder and put some bumps in the pipe to help keep it on, and so far that has worked. I got my Spal fan wired FINALLY after blowing 3 fuses....stupidness...

I've done a few logs so far, trying to figure out why my coolant is 210deg and its been pissin me off.
I'll post some dsmlink logs from before and after so far, in a minute, and later I'll do a run and post that log.

Some people will argue that since it's pressurized air, it behaves differently; kind of like in an intake manifold. I don't necessarily buy that, but that's OK. As far as real world performance differences, I haven't seen any quantifiable measurements between this design and say, this one:
http://dvdtfab.com/2g_intercooler_kit.htm

That one is quite a bit more expensive than the JRC ones, though, and some would say unnecessarily so. I also disagree with that, but that's just my opinion and I have no hard numbers to back it up. Didn't stop me from purchasing one, however. :D
