it was me that was interested, and THANK YOU very much for that info!!!

I am planning on going with a MAFT setup next and figured since I would be making my own piping I might as well get the 8inch JRC FMIC and do the "short route" setup fwd98gst did.

thanks again 98spydert!

Lee, what did you use to cut your pipes?

I need to shorten mine some, they stick out to much. But I don't feel like going at it with the handsaw again.

Chop saw :)

Jig or Recipicating w/metal blades? Thats what I cut exhaust tubing with.

that doesn't even look like a jrc ic. it looks bigger than his biggest ic.

I even have my bumper hacked out and it still fills up the entire thing. Just barely but as you can see in the picture it fills the 2gb quite well.

I wanted to do that, but I like my stock fogs so the IC would sit way too low to cut out that black part off the bumper.

Eh who needs fog lights anyways :D our cars are way too low to the ground for them to matter anyways.... :p

anyone want to make the intercooler piping for me? For those that have done this modd and made their own piping shouldn't be hard to make it again. I have no time and the shops in my area charge too much (not interested)

thanks, jeff

I got my IC monday. It looks smaller than it is. I'm waiting on a BOV flange to get here and in the mean time I'm wet sanding and painting my pipes w/ 500deg red paint while waiting for a warm day to do this. *sigh* Coldness came here right when I got my setup *sighs again*

I'm in the process of polishing my Intercooler pipes, right now. They should turn out nice.

i hear that the intercooler is good for 14b and the 16g but what about the 18g turbo? just wondering if the jr intercoolers are good for an upgrade from the 16g to a 18g. or is it worth it to get a spearco?

I got the intercooler a 2 weeks ago i think it is made great for 195!!!!!!!

I was wondering can i paint it black with a light coat of paint ?

I'm going for a sleeper car and don't want to draw attention :talon: :thumb:

An 18g is not a worthwile upgrade from a 16g at all.

Personally, I think the 18g would be a downgrade! Look on the times list and see how well they dont do. :thumbdown

Personally, I think that is a flawed argument. Whenever somebody wants to diss a turbo, they usually refer to the almighty "times list". That's bad logic, IMO. How many FP3065s are on there? Not many-- it must be a sucky turbo. No, it's just that like the 18G, not too many people have one. How could the 18G be a downgrade when it flows almost 100CFM more? Sorry for the OT rant...

What kind of piping are you using? And has anyone tried polishing regular steel piping? How does that turn out?
I used Stainless Steel, It's turning out pretty good, but it's deffinitly a lot harder to cut than my aluminum Upper IC Pipe. It's taking a while right now because all I have to work with is a Dremel :| .

All the fp3065's powered cars are on there are fast, and people have made great power with them. They have more than proven themselves. More will come when they have been out for a longer period of time.

All the 18g cars that are on there, do no better, if not worse than 16g powered cars. If their were more people with 18g's on the list, they would all fall in the same area. The 18g has been around for a long time, and vets dog it for a reason. Just because it flows 100cfm more (which I think is incrrect anyways) obviously does not tell you the whole story. Why dont you hunt down some people who have had an 18g and see what they think of it.

I have one. Spools as fast as my 16G did and seems to pull harder, even on the crappy stock SMIC. Once I get a decent FMIC on, I'll see what it can really do, even though my car is A/T (and FWD).

The 18G is rated the same as a evo3 16G so yes this i/c would be more than enough for an 18G.

everyone is saying it "seems" to be a perfect match, im sure you can go bigger with no probs, look at me, im running an evo on a side mount... thats gotta say somethin :p

Once my fifty comes in I'll let you guys know how the FMIC holds up.
