I have the sbr street kit, i bought it used for 300 dollars. I love it but would never pay the 899 they want for it brand new, after a few months one of the mounting tabs broke off, now i have a crooked fmic LOL.

This thread is from 2007 :)

There are some new options in the market, we offer our 1G FMIC kit which we're currently running a group buy on as well as our new revised 2g FMIC kit.

I got the VR Speed kit for $300 shipped. It is essentially the SSAC kit but with better couplers, clamps, hardware, and pre-drilled mounting holes. This thing is massive and fitment was great. They guarantee fitment and it fit like a glove. They are vendors on here as well.

Hows the VR speed fmic on 2g autos? Good fitment? No cutting or bending/moving of anything?

I have an aftermarket trans cooler that I was able to move around in order to get the right inlet to line up. If you still have the factory trans cooler in the driver side air damn location, it has to be moved. Other than that, you need to obviously cut out a portion of the radiator support. Very easy install, very short piping, excellent quality. Oh yea, and the core is huge!

Wow didn't even see that. How do you go and respond to a thread that's two years old? LOL. Oh, and thanks again for the new FMIC!

I responded to the guy who brought the thread back :)

Thanks for the kind words!

Running the vr-speed fmic as well and i love it. Clean look, short piping, and my car has no problems with overheating either.
I am very satisfied with my fmic.

Skip the sbr race kit, it dosen't look it, but its poorly welded. A friend drove 50 miles with a 16g and cracked his, and I split mine in three places on the dyno, wasting huge amounts of my time and money since we hauled my car all the way to penn. just so nate could tune it. The guy who rewelded it said the welds were pretty, but the end tanks weren't really welded to the core where there was enough metal too hold. I also spoke to some ex-employees of slowboy and they said it was a big problem that slowboy was aware of, and didn't want to address.

I'd say my SBR Kinetic FMIC is welded really nice. However, it was clearly mishandled or not packed well cause there are a lot of fin bents on the core.

My SBR monster FMIC was a good product but the customer service was the worst i've experienced ever with any sort of vendor. Good core and good welds. But mine too came poorly packaged and had a big dent on the bottom row of it. Wouldn't pay out the ass again for a poorly handled product. Only bought it because my setup required a larger FMIC. (35r/2.3stroker/35psi)

My intercooler had pretty welds, but they didn't hold at a crucial time. We only saw one crack in the front during the dyno session only to find after we took it off that there were three big cracks. Pretty welds don't always equal good welds. It makes me wonder how long I drove with a cracked intercooler.

go with the xs power fmic I have one on my car no complaints and I know a guy using the same core on his car its a rx7 with a stock 1jz in it with a hx-35 and so far has ran a best of 10.7
