jay racing tensioner tool

This jay racing tensioner tool isn't fitting through my 1g swapped motor mount.

This has got me stumped, the end piece with no threads, isn't even able to go through the hole.

whats wrong?
 
okay......... wish it had been specified on their site.... not to thrilled right now.

whats the resolve for this setup then?
 
That tool is a POS, i only use the cam gear toolie and the h.tensioner toolie. the stick bends/breaks soooooo easy.ive gone thru 1, and my friend has gone thru 2.gotta do it the old fashioned way sorry bro.
 
Remove the tensioner, compress it in a vise, put the pin back in it, and start the timing job as if you had a new tensioner. I have never used the flimsy threaded tools.
 
tanks, thats not to big of a deal, considering everything else i have gone through.
 
I'll add my info, I just did my fist belt with it and it worked great. The threaded rod does NOT work with 2g 6 bolt swaps but it isn't needed. Cam lock tool works great and the tensioner pulley tool works well.

You can get proper tension by having a pinned tensioner, tighten the tensioner puller while using the pulley tool to press the arm to the tensioner. Belt will tighten as well an then pull the pin, let the arm come up a hair and finish tightening pulley pulley.
 
I guess I've gotten pretty good (or lucky) the last couple times I tensioned my belt. I had to remove the belt a couple times to do other work and I can't use the threaded tool since I have a 2G/6 bolt. I expected having to remove the auto tensioner to compress in a vice but decided to first see if i could insert the pin back in without doing anything at all to the belt tension. It went right in with no resistance and spun freely while in the hole. The kevlar belt probably helps with this since they supposedly don't stretch.

This won't always work because the tensioner rod can sometimes rotate a bit so that the hole no longer lines up with the hole in the tensioner body even though the extension is where it should be.
 
I found it's not a big deal removing it and putting it in a vice and then reinstalling. Takes a whopping 10 minutes and i don't fight anything.
But then again I'm one of those who refuse to put the plastic sheild back over my belts, because I always seem to have hundreds of nuts in their when ever I remove it.
I've yet to have anything mess any of my cars up like this , so i will continue leaving the guards off untill that happens.
