Is TPS at 90% at WOT normal for a 1g?

I have followed the TPS setup correctly with the voltmeter and from my logs the highest i hit on the TPS is roughtly 90%. Are you other guys runnings 1g's hitting close to the same? I am going to check the tightness of the throttle cable and see if its good and taut tonight, but just wanted some feedback. Thanks guys!!

Is your floor mat in the car? i know this sounds stupid, but the same thing happened to my buddy in his 1g. With the floor mat in it, the throttle doesnt actually go all the way down.

Thats what happens with my floor mat. I take it out when I go to the track.

HA! I would of never thought of that, but now that you mention it, it is always slide up towards the front. Ill check on that after work. THANKS!

Mine does the same damn thing, it is so aggrevating. I just wanted to throw in that I only see about 96% on my car and that is with the floor mat out of the car. I don't think that it is normal for anybody to actually see 100%.

Have your buddy sit in the driver's seat with the car off, floormat out of the way, and have him put the pedal on the floor. Then check if there is any more room for the cable to move on the throttle body. If its on the floor, but you can still open the butterfly valve some more, theres your problem. Just adjust it so pedal on the floor equals fully open and viola! Done.

This is also something you should look at as well. You might need to adjust your throttle cable. :thumb:

That still doesn't solve the problem if the floormat is the issue. :talon:

Should read 100%

Regarless of 1g or 2g you should see 100% @ WOT right?
Nope. What the TPS reads at WOT, within reason, doesn't matter. What matters is that the pedal actually opens the butterfly all the way.

On a 1G the TPS output at idle is critical and needs to be between 0.48v and 0.52v.
On a 2G it's the position where the IPS inside the TPS switches from closed to open that is critical.

~As explained in percentage.

It should read 10% without the foot on the peddle, regardless of ignition on or off.

On a 1G that would be correct, but it helps to have the ignition on so that the logger works to read the value. :) It should read the same with or without the engine running.

Since you have a 2G 4G63 the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) has the Idle Position Sensor (IPS) built into it. The IPS tells the ECU when the throttle plate (butterfly) is closed. The adjustment procedure for the TPS on a 2G according to the manual has you place a 0.0177" (0.45mm) feeler guage between the stop screw and the throttle pulley to open the butterfly and then adjust the TPS right to where the IPS (pins 3 and 4) switches from closed to open. Then they have you verify that the TPS (pin 2 and 4) reads between .4 and 1V while the feeler guage is still in place. Anything in that range is ok as long as the IPS is adjusted correctly.
