So i bought this huge front mount intercooler for my DSM. It's (27 X 10 X 3 1/2).

My 1g DSM is all stock except for the small 16g, 3" Thermal Research Catback, and a greddy bov.

Would it be OK to run this intercooler, would i have any problems, because its so BIG?

what do you pro's recommend

No you wont have problems. You will probably notice some lag because of the larger core.

Im running a 14b with the vrsf FMIC which is the same size as that intercooler, and I have no issues. Just hits full boost a little later.

like he said you will probably experience some lag but you will be ok. how many lbs of boost you plan on running? and do you plan on upgrading turbos later?

10psi, and i am saving money for a big16g.

I'd be happy to trade my Buschur core should you decide it's too large for your needs. ROFL

:D, haaaaaaaaaaa, you like it don't you :sneaky:

so hopefully i wont experience any lost of hp right?

You'll be fine. I had less mods than you on my laser with a small 16g, and I put a fmic on with a 3" core, and long route piping. I felt a huge increase in performance, and no loss of power at all.

Large intercoolers on small turbos will experience a greater pressure drop than either a smaller intercooler or larger turbo would....although the difference will likely be minimal, and the fact that the large intercooler will work better at cooling air than the stocker, netting more power, will mask any performance loss due to the pressure drop.

You should have taken the pics of it while you were on the toilet, like that one guy did.
An amazing thread.

ewwwwww :barf::barf::barf:.......

you guys are picturing it

BTW thats a really nice looking FMIC. Don't worry about any lag that you might be getting. Highly doubt it will be noticeable. IDK if the 1gs have rubber/plastic piping but for me when I upgraded from my SMIC to a FMIC I actually got less lag, and it was most likely cus I got rid of a whole lot of small leaks i probably had.

save your money buying a big 16g and get an EVO3.... might as well and raited for 350/400 horse:hellyeah: thats what im running... although you might need supporting mods anyway if your going big 16g... nice FMIC shortest route is the only way to go im gonna order an ETS shortest route in the near future
