I am trying to figure out if this is a stock BOV or not. It says greddy but there is a rubber tube coming off so idk. I just got the car from a relative and am trying to figure out if it has any mods. Pics below.

Let me know please! Thanks.

O and if it is aftermarket (i believe it is) how much boost should it be able to handle? Thanks.

guess what, i have also a real greedy . its NOT and BIG NOT louder than the stock 1g BOV

The greddy has the ability to tune it, soft or hard, in turn this allows it to be louder. The 1g bov is one of the best there is, especialy true when you factor in the cost, but my greddy was alot louder. Peroid.

even if you tune to the hardest its still not as loud, i have hard IC piping and Intake and still, its not loud.

anyway i dont want to argue more about it, but again maybe one of us needs to clean his ears either you or me :) :p :p

cheers

I don't want to :argue: Cheers:applause:

My experience with this bov, I would rather have a 1g bov. The threading that the adjustment bolt can soften or harden the pressure stripped the 2nd time I adjusted it. Overpriced crap for the same thing a 1g bov can do. In greddy i don't trust. Since it's there tho, and working don't worry about it.

You'd think so, but in china they take peoples designs and stamp even the name of the company they copied and sell it on ebay.

i really dont agree with you on that .....

most of the greedy type s or rs will leak and will flutter and will give you some surge ( i said most and not all of them)

i tried 2 Greedy so far and 2 of them leaked from the breather and there was no way to fix them excpet for sealing it of with glue. and then again after sometime they will leak again.

stock 1g BOV is way much better if you ask me

I think he said that cause Greddy and Trust are essentially the same company; it was a joke im pretty sure

The stock BOV is not crap. There are plenty of ways to crush or have them rebuilt for extremely cheap compared to a new BOV to hold over 30 PSI.

I found a guy who had several math equations for whatever level of boost you want to run. If you take most people's advice here they will have you crush it to a certain point and it will cause compressor surge in some cases.

There is another post on here about a guy who put a quick clamp around it to achieve higher boost.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/art...cooler/97971-1g-bov-crushing-alternative.html Sorry, I can't seem to find the guy who had the equation done up.

+1 LOL

well in my experience both the stock 1g and the greddy bovs are great... sounds like some of you ether had bad experiences with one or the other or like mantioned your just an idiot LOL:tease: ... but in my experience both worked great with me but i went with the type s for the sound.:thumb:

LOL. The soft and hard screw is not for tuning for sound?!? Jeez. Ill give you the best example, I was running at 15 psi, the screw was 3/4 way hard, Therefore, I was getting BOV "Flutter", NOT compressor surge.....So, I backed the screw off till about 1/2. Now the BOV valve does not flutter... All it does it adjusts the spring and really, (How much pressure do you want to hold/whilst effecting blowoff pressure.) Sorry for the people out there who think it adjusts for sound, and turn the BOV all the way to hard and listen to your poor IC piping trying to burp the air out while your vacuum cant even open the diaphragm. The only need to adjust that is while raising boost pressure. 30 psi call for hard adjustment so it doesnt leak.

Tuning the Greddy for sound? 1g BOVs are crap?

Seriously?

Yah that is what I was thinking, since when is the 1g a bad BOV. They hold boost and I do not care about a sound, maybe years ago when I had a SSQV on my s13, but not now. Ever seen two 1g BOV's on a single pipe, they hold about 50psi.

On a further note, without that 2nd nipple on the BOV hooked up to some boost source, that screw wont even do anything at all because i think that helps push air underneath the valve seat and forces the BOV open harder or softer??

thats a Gredds because i own one and its identical..

stock bov is crap and 1st gen is crap too is just a way to go cheap on a bov.. type s is great and sounds exelent performance BOV. now lets upgrade that ice piping.

ps your an idiot for that buddy:nono::ohdamn:
