Is this a BOV or a POV?

Well the guy i bought my car from said that he had a BOV for the car but he didn't know where it was but finally found it and handed over this beast. Personally i was baffled by the appearance of the thing. I thought it was a Pop Off Valve and a couple of my friends agreed but some say it's just a BOV. If anyone knows if this is a BOV or, if i'm right, an old school POV or any suggestions and comments are prefered. Here's a pic of the exact replica of mine. I'll try to get my actually pictures up later.

Thanks.

Looks like a blow off valve to me...A pop off valve wouldn't be used on our cars. Pop off valves (or - manifold pressure relief valves) aren't really used on tuner/street cars (that I know of). I believe they kind of act like a wastegate, if I remember right. You're running so much boost, and when the maximum boost level is achived, the 'pop off valve' relieves the pressure, causing a POP noise.

The BOV you have almost looks like a wanna-be Apexi BOV.

Hook it up and let us know how it sounds and if it leaks at all.

A pop off valve act like a wasegate, opening when a certain pressure is reached.

What way does the valve move?

Yeah your right and i don't know what way it moves. I'm going to pop it on my engine in the future way i get it rebuilt.
And i just saw that it is a monza so i guess it is a BOV ######
