Is it worth it?

I have a 92 6 bolt 2.0 n/a 5 speed that I got as a project car and I was wondering if its worth trying to make it a 12 second car? Or would it be more of a hassle in the long run being a n/t? Could anyone give me a rough estamite as to how much itd cost to pull it off if it is worth it? Any and all imput is appreciated

well it depends if your trying to make a 12 second car your gonna spend about the same as if u had a already turbo car considering ud have to rebuild the bottom end anyways and new turbo fuel setup etc ## gonan spend anywhere from 5000 to 9000 to get a reliable 12 second car

You are definitely better off starting with a turbo car for the money your going to spend on getting that to a twelve second car you could probably have 2-3 awd turbo dsm's

To get into the 12's on a stock bottom end in any turbo DSM is easily possible. As long as the engine is healthy and compression is good, people have gone 10's on a stock bottom end (in an AWD 6 bolt DSM). The N/t engines have different pistons that don't like boost very much.

To the OP, you would have to spend more money getting an N/T car into the 12's because it would need to have the engine built. You can have a 12 second 1g AWD turbo DSM for under 5K including buying the car (if it's a good running car). I've seen people get into the 12's for less than 3K too but they got lucky buying a car where the previous owner didn't know anything. S0 they got the car really cheap with some piddly little thing wrong with it. You can also get a FWD turbo 1g into the 12's for less than 5K including buying the car too but it'll be a bit harder due to the FWD. Just search the classifieds and craigslist and ebay when getting parts together. Buying stuff used can save you a lot of money if you are on a tight budget.

I'd look at the 1/4 mile times under the "MEMBERS" section and see what people are running to get the times you want. Maybe shoot them a PM asking some questions about their setup if their profile isn't filled out.

I'm just trying to figure out what my car runs in the 1/4 stock. I'm not tying to compare my car to my brothers I was just simply stateing my brother has a 420a talon that's not bench raceing
