Is it possible to smoke V8's ??????

my license plate frame says V8 KILLA right on it. Seems to get the mustang crowds attention and then they look at me like im a damn idiot or sumthin, till i smoke em, then they tend slow way down and dont even come up next to me to gimme a thumbs up or even a middle finger, its like they sit back there ashamed of themselves and embarrassed or sumthin i dunno. BUT i have also been walked on by sum saleen, i dunno what they have exactly but it had a supercharger he told me, but i dunno what else, fun race even tho i got spanked.

don't underestimate those grandprix.... i'm not sure about the base models... but man those GTPs can be seriously tricked out... a buddy of mine has one running in the high 13s... i didn't believe it until i saw the slips... but i'm sure he dumped a crap load of money under the hood of it. that time might have been on track tires though.... still.. even on street tires, it's pretty damn quick.

Those live by the same rule as the DSM...not to be underestimated.

Hey Smoker im sorry but be glad you wernt flamed. READ b4 posting somethin like that. I know this is a newbie forum but still...read up. Look at the times. Do your research. Its somethin any board will tell you. Make sure you buy a turbo if you are starved for beating just a mustang or a camaro. Also dont be fooled...although there are some NASTY DSM's the v8s are like 1g AWD's...if you know what you are doing they can be really good $$$ getters if you know what you are doing.

Dont sell yourself short...dont half ass. Do it right the 1st time or youll regret it when things start messing up and you feel like you wasted all your time.

with only a pulley and exhaust a gtp can be mid/low 14's with some traction, which is the problem with those. they have TONS of torque down low, and just smoke the tires. sounds familiar... sorta like my fwd laser

any G.P. except the supercharged one will be easily beaten by a turbo DSM. Oh and maybe the older 3.4l twin dual cam cars, with a 5spd.

But the Supercharged car will be a threat, especially if they are modded. They are like our cars, with a few thou, they are a serious ride

Good thing for us, they are only fwd, and only automatic

I would bet that even with a N/T dsm you could still beat the older 3.1l GP's....I've drivin one and it didn't seem that fast at all.

I think it should be possible to beat him. I've seen n/t eclipses beat V6 mustangs and they have more power. I just dont want to look like an idiot by loosing against him. btw his Grand Prix is auto. do u guys think I could beat him with an slightly modded n/t

should be no prob for ya, but if your car is out of tune, has a bad sensor, etc, or you miss the light, miss a shift etc, and he has a good day, he will probably take ya.

But if all is well, no sweat.

Like most of pontiac car out there now. They are all auto, and cost a $^*& load of money to do anything to them.

I have a 01 Grand Am GT and it will pull something ice off the line but after I get through the powerband I am toasted. This is why I am getting rid of the POS. 16,000 mile on it and I am fed up already.

Beside that they all cost way too much to even think of doing anything to them. I know that is a repitious statement I am making, but I just waned to STRESS the fact of the money issue!

yep, like I said, I work at a GM dealership, and they are expensive!

But the GP GTP can be put in the 13s for a couple of thou.

The Grand AM GT is not really too bad. Get a good exhaust system, and a good air intake. You will be surprised. Too bad they are all automatics.

yeah i did but my lil gs (with intake and muffler) cant beat a stock grand prix gt auto, me and my friend have raced countless times...he kicks my ass after 3rd gear....im gonna get him one day!!

anyone ever race a modded V8 camaro or firebird???

It is possable to make any car beat another. it just depends how much money you want to dump into the car. my last run im my 95 Formula Firebird i ran a 13.2 so if your faster than that you can beat me. but that it lightly modded. im going to put some headers on soon so that should put me in the 12s.

if you want to know if you can beat a car, search the web and find out the stock 1/4 mile times. then that would give you a good idea where you stand. if the car your racing has all the little bolt on goodys then you can figure its about a second (+/-) faster than the stock times.

sometimes when i race people in my gs they just look and laff and push their foot and i am embarassed....
but seriously the ford panel van at my work can beat my 94 nt no contest...
its pitiful really
if you plan on winning any races at all other than against stock neons then get a turbo its the only way to go...

p.s. the person you are 'racing' has to know that you are in a 'race' with he or she to qualify this as a 'race'...
sometimes i beat people, i slap them silly, but in actuality they weren't racing.... yeaaa its that bad i want a GSX!!!!
