Is an o2 dump straight into the atmosphere appropriate for my car?

I was wondering if I should get an o2 dump to the atmosphere, would it help at lot or not a lot to be worth buying one?

Yea, definately get a dump o2 housing. i've been running mine for a year and everything is great. just remember to not punch it right by a cop.(happend to my dad with me in the car)

I do. Plan is to upgrade to larger DP and cat to mate with my Megan catback. Maybe a test pipe for track days. If I run a testpipe, I should expect CEL codes.

just being me i would run a open dump cause we make them in my buddies shop and there super easy to build but anything we can do with our hands we do we took its front sub frame out of his car cause we are going to see what all we can make tubular....but depending on the turbo u can actually tell a little difference in a open dump and not (not just noise either) because when the WG opens its not trying to push so much exhaust threw the pipe now but thats just my 2 cents

I keep hearing this thing is super loud. Is it really that obnoxious? I, for one, hate v6 camaros that slap flowmasters on their cars so they can sound "mean". Everytime I hear one I shake my head in silence. I know they can help with boost creep but so DES porting the stocker or just getting an aftermarket larger than the stocker. So that leaves us with sound. I have heard the videos on YouTube and some are just so loud they distort the mic and some are fairly mild. I haven't heard one in person so input would be of great help.

Well... That's might not be exactly true! My O2 dump I had on the white TSi tripped off some phantom knock pretty bad. If you have DSMlink setup to display knock with the CEL then yes it will show the CEL.

You won't get a DTC for it though.

The second video sounds pretty horrible. The first one not so bad. I think just running 2.5" o2 housing, test pipe, and 3" catback should be plenty loud. Probably sound better too. Thanks for the vids.

I had a punishment racing one on my car before I changed my whole setup around still got it sitting in a corner let me know if you want it I'll sell it for $60 shipped. Its not too bad once your wastegate flap is not leaking. If your flap leaks then you have to put spacers/washers on the actuator to keep the flap closed but the catch is that once you do that with a stock wg actuator then it cuts down on how much it it opens up, so might be back to square one with boost creep. Its pretty much normal until WOT.

Just thought i would add, if your wastegate isnt closing all the way, then the wastegate mounting arms need to be bent back or you can add washers to space the wastegate so it does close all the way.

I have been rocking mine for 7 months on my dd and love it.no phantom knock,no cel even though I'm 1g.I love to see the honduh driver faces when they pul next to me and I punch it.makes the car sound mean as hell and I don't think its one bit rice.it is a bacon magnet though I won't lie.I will say it sounds like crap on my 16g when I punch it on the highway though.sounds weak in 4th and 5th.but 1st,2nd,and 3rd sounds like a beast comig down the road.

2.) Get an O2 housing with an open dump.

I would get a o2 dump..I have one on my 16g and its not bad if you are driving normal but if your always in boost its loud other then that you don't even notice it!

Yeah. Im just going to stick with mine stock one. I dont get mad very easily over people screwing with my cars. I have had my "friend" throw purposely throw a basketball at my bmw and chip some paint off. What a dick. Then another "friend" threw a football at my bmw. Again, peckerhead. My bmw nice too. Really nice. Oh well nothing I can do about other people. I am nice to them too. I think they are just jealous of my cars.

i wouldnt call them friends first off and second you can do something about them like throw a rock at their windshield.
