i was looking into getting a skyline turbo with 02 housing for fairly cheap and was just wondering if its a t28??i know its t3 flange but i dont know any specs??would it be worth using it instead of my 14b i have on my car now??

t28s typically used in mitsu applications flow around 500cfm, significantly more than a 14b. I have no idea about the skyline turbo.

The turbos that come on the 3000gt's are the 9b turbos. I have never seen an all stock 3000gt with t-28's.

Haha well I am glad that you guys caught that inaccurate piece of information. Yes, the 3/S has the TD04-9b turbos from the factory with the exception of the TD04L-13G upgrade [similar to 1G DSM A/T turbo]. Twin-T28's on a 3/S would be interesting, but we have enough variety and options to work with just like our DSM cousins. For the record though, the HKS GT2835's have pushed Japan's 3000GT's into the low-11 and mid-10.

OP, I suggest optimizing the use of your 14b before deciding if you need/want to upgrade. They are good for a decent amount of power and you can conveniently upgrade to other TD05 turbos later.

Skylines with the RB25DET used a T28 0.40 A.R. 60mm compressor inlet and is good for 14PSI. The newer versions of the T28 on the RB26DETT were smaller and could only handle about 12PSI, since they were twin turbo designs they didn't need big turbos like the single turbo RB25. I think it's good for about 350whp

Like this for example claims to be a RB25DET turbo, I'm thinking about buying it. Seems like a deal.

Eclipse 4g63 T28 turbo

according to "How to build max-performance 4g63 engines". the 14b flows 430 CFM and the T28 flows 400 CFM.

That is correct, a 14b flows more than a T-28 , depending on which exhaust housing its on...if the nissan's T-28 has a t3 or t4 housing it could flow more than a 14b ....

If you have a 14b on then just go to a MHI Evo3 16g, it would be a direct bolt on without really any modification and will make more power than that "skyline turbo"....swapping to a T3 T-28 would be more work than needed and probably wont be worth it... Just get a 16g and call it a day:thumb:

well there was a couple different turbos but your probably thinking about the T28A that came on the S-13 syliva (japan export) its a bolt up for the RB24DETT or the SR20DETT from what ive heard and seen. works good in the sr20 det in the 240sx.

How many quality turbos have you ever seen with "TURBO" cast into the compressor housing? Smells like eBay to me, as just about everything else offered there.

Also! This thread is a year old. What gives? :p

True

Wouldn't the hardware involved be worth $250?

Eclipse 4g63 T28 turbo

Where exactly did it claim to be skyline turbo?? or did i read †he post wrong (doubt it)

and no the hardware isnt worth crap if its an ebay turbo or a knock off...

if its off a GT-R it will be too small. If it is off a an R32 GTS-T which came with the RB20DET those stock turbo's are a waste of time. The T3 flanged turbo off the RB25DET is worthless as well. The ceramic turbine wheel wont take 14psi for very long before they disintegrate.

Not a worthwhile upgrade.
