Is a 2.3L a bad choice?

Hey guys so I recently bought a 2.3L block. I dint do any research on the 2.3L until after I got this block because I got it for a seal the guy sold it for 800$ so I just took it without thinking. After doing some research I've been reading a lot on how 2.3L 4g63s breaks rods and cranks very easy is this true? I was aiming for 500-550awhp with this block but now I'm worried to shoot that high. The block is bored .20 over has a 100mm eagle crank, manly I-beam Rods and wiseco 8.3.1 pistons

Tuners recommend lower rpm because they don't want to feel responsible for something going wrong. The motor isn't going to last forever. A good example is; the more meth you smoke the shorter you will live, but the more fun you'll have.

My 2.3 revs a lot quicker then a 2.0 but it's just the breathing part that is most restrictive. If I could do it over again I'd probably go 4g64 destroked 2.1 just to rev it out. I'm definitely satisfied with the 2.3 though.

It all depends what you want out of your engine!

I've been on a 2.3L since early 2008. Eagle 100mm crank, eagle rods and standard wisecos, all of these parts had 60k miles on them before I tore it down last year to refresh it. To my surprise everything was perfect. All this season I have been on the same 2.3L 7 bolt with a 6466 35+ psi and held up just fine revving out to 8500, stock trans mind you. Now my next build will be a 2.0L but as for when I used to daily drive it, the 2.3L was awesome.

I ran a 7-blade HX-35 in the .55A/R bolt on housing on my 2.3L and got up to 452AWHP. There is obviously a bunch of variables that play into what your car can make vice what mine did. I was running out of injector as I only have 1200CC/min injectors and am on e85, also I still have a stock intake manifold which limits flow on the top end.

With that said I think you can get above 500 with the hx35 but to make that happen I would use a t3 hotside with the turbo instead of the DSM style bolt on housing.
I'll be running e85 as well and hopefully I'll be buying a built head when I find the right one

I'm currently in the middle of a 2.3 build as well, will revving to 7200rpms with 27psi of boost on pump gas be ok? Also, how do I set the rev lilit? I have dsmlink v3 but when I was running the 2.0 my limit was set to 8000rpms

Plz don't thread Jack, create your own thread. If you're at all familiar with v3, Rev limit shouldn't be an issue.

A dd 2.3 should be self explanatory. If you want to drag, a 2.0 is better imo. With an auto, depends on your trans, gearing and shift points.
