2G IPT trans shiftkit ?

Hi. Hopefully a solid answer from someone who knows something about the DSM autotrans.
My question: What does the performance shiftkit do ?

Simple answer is it adjusts pressures and flow of fluid. This results in a firmer shift and longer clutch pack life because it’s not slipping as much.

It is a must to do I Can hear. Thanks 😊

Definitely is must do for any automatic performance car. Even unmodified automatic cars benefit from a shift kit! The shift kit itself has difference springs so if it shifts too harsh for your liking you can use a softer spring for softer shifts.

Best mod for an auto all day. :)

Nice. Thanks for the tip. The car is Stock for now. But I just bought a brand new t28 turbo and 560cc, and a custombuild smic, injen intake pipe for turbo. So I it is stuckish.
Is it easy to install and Can it be done while the trans is still on the car ?

Easy is relative/different for each person. I think it’s easy, but others may say it’s difficult. It can be done with basic hand tools, with the transmission still in the car yes. John at IPT/Import Performance Transmission has a video on their website and on YouTube with how to install a shift kit in a DSM Auto and it’s a full walkthrough multi part video that will show you step by step what to do, what to adjust, and why.

It took me 15-30 minutes to remove the VB, install the springs, hammer and drill the separator plate, adjust everything, and reinstall it into the trans. On my first time too. Just watch the video before and reference it during.

^^^Watch it like 3 or 4 times LOL.

It isn't hard but you must pay attention to the details. When I did my first one, I actually watched the video then took my phone to the shop and followed it thru.
