I tossed some VP octane booster in the car, was still doing it. Ended up setting the knock sensor to 80% and 5500rpm and it didn't detect anything. So I started upping the boost and timing and it seems to be rock solid now. I'm going to chalk it...
I know some vehicle reduce torque load on downshifts to make a softer shift, I guess these old dsm's don't do that.
The knock sensor must be picking up noise from something, I'll see if I can get a log of it retarding timing on downshift...
