Hello everyone. I have an unusual problem. My interior map lights in the rear view mirror and kick lights remain on at all times. When I get in my car and shut the door, the lights slowly dim away but then remain dim as if a small amount of current is still running through them. If I disconnect the rear view mirror, the kick lights get brighter.

I read every topic this forum had to offer pertaining to my problem. I checked the door pins and opened and closed the hatch multiple times but the lights remain on in a dim state. I even removed the radio to make sure it wasn't causing the problem. For now, I have been forced to pull the fuse until the problem is fixed.

Attached is a circuit diagram of the interior lights but I don't know how to read it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Also, I addressed this problem in my other thread about the ebrake light problem but since that problem had been resolved, I figured it would benefit the forum more to have a new thread with this problem since it has not been addressed yet.

Thank you all for your input.

The door ajar light does not remain on when I close the door.
The lights run through the normal cycle in that they get bright when the door is open but once the door is closed, they start to dim and then remain dim.
I checked each door switch by removing them and the lights still remain on.. Wouldn't that indicate that it can't be the door switches? Thanks.

Yes, not the door switches if you disconnected them (since they ground the signal to turn on light when door is open). It sounds like either:
1) you have a partial short in wiring or dome switch. This is the most likely case. Unplug dome switch to see if problem disappears (dome switch is usually the problem). If not unplug each foot light 1 at a time to see effect. If nothing, check wiring from dome switch, foot lights, and door switches.
2) bad ETACS-ECU (very pricey)
