interior lights always on

Hey guys, Well I've been busy working on the inside of my dsm and having some trouble as of the moment. It seems my interior lights are now constantly on(the reading lamps, and foot lights) although all my doors are closed. Also when I turn on my headlights I'm suckin major power and all the interior lights dim a lot. Any idea what could be the problem?

As far as the headlight dimming problem I'm not sure.

But for the interior lights at the back of the door frame near the bottom there are plungers for the lights. They may have bent the little pieces of copper inside and caused a constant connection. They are possible to take apart, be careful though the pieces are very small. The door chimes are also separated from the interior lights inside. It looks kind of like a + sign shaped piece of copper. Mine bent on me.

The easiest way to check if it is one of them is to unplug he connector from it and see if the lights turn off and get back to us from there.

Alright I checked my plungers and the one on the passenger side pops back out once you push it in, I assume this is how they should work. The one on the driver's side is stuck pushed in although i'm not pushing on it. Is this what we're talking about having a constant connection. How do I fix this then?

some more info: my lights are only fully on when I have a external battery charger hooked up to my battery but as soon as I remove it the lights dim down as tho they aren't being given enough energy. My battery is in good condition.

Yeah, that is probably the culprit. Take it off, clean it up. Maybe spray it with some silicone to loosen the plunger assy. Clean the connections and put it back on. If needed I think you can still by the component at MachV Motorsports. I believe that is where I bought mine.

Yes i'm on that site now at it seems to have some solid OEM parts. I'm nearly 100% positive this is the problem tho, mainly because the wires to the connector merely fell out as I tugged on the assembly If I can't find one at the junkyard i'll buy from MachV. I'll mark this thread as resolved once I get this squared away.

Sounds like that is probably the culprit, if it's stuck shut (which is where it normally should be) the copper inside probably got caught on the metal causing it to become stuck and always on. After it was removed did the problem persevere? If it's unplugged and your lights are still on it's something else.

As I said before you can disassemble it and clean it. If this isn't resolved by the time I get home friday I'll get some pics of one taken apart.

Dont forget the hatch one too. Mine only come on when I pop the hatch, opening the door doesnt turn my lights on anymore.
