Intercooler???

hi GUYS!!! just visited my mechanic last night and asked his opinion why I can't feel so much power in my 16g turbo. what i feel is just a lil difference only in my old t25. he told me that I need to have a bigger IC installed so that it can suffice the air needed. Is it true? iread the threads here and I learned the operation of the IC. but I just want to know if it will greatly help me a lot. my car setup is almost stock except for the following: 190 walbro FP , 16g turbo, 2.5" straight pipe, 3" muffler and replaced the stock air filter to K&N.
please help coz i dont want to spend on nothing.

ya i know how much you can gain from just upgrading the exhaust i didnt mean like 5hp gain, the point i was trying to make would be to find some good injectors first, not to just forget about the whole exhaust peroid.

IMHO, upgrades should go:

1. K&N/turbo back/mbc
2. FP/Inj's/AFC (or other)
3. FMIC/bigger turbo

Not knocking you down though
Although i have seen some adverts that claim on a full 3" cat back youll get a 5-7hp gain....

Ok so follow what other people are saying so you know for sure your car is running safely. Another thing you can do is look at the spark plugs, or have a mechanic pull a spark plug and see how it looks. Anytime you are unsure about somthing take a picture and post it on here and we will help in anyway possible.

Once you do the free mods and your car is running safely it will be real fast, One of my first setups used a factory 1gen turbo (a 14b), a PVC intake made from parts at a home improvment store, a cheap downpipe and cat-back exhaust, and some other little stuff, I was running 13.5s in the quarter mile, on the street my car would hang with a lot of other cars, it was a blast for having such a 'cheap' set-up. ya i heard of alot of ppl saying that they didnt gain to much from the exhaust upgrade. Different strokes for different folks i guess. The list you gave is pretty good i would follow that, i guess i did it a different way though but either way they work

You made me look again, he only has a 2.5 inch test pipe, you're completely right though if it was a 2.5 inch exhaust he would be better off doing the fuel stuff, 2.5-3 isn't much of a difference under 300whp......so they say.

, i mean i ran low low 13's on my 1g with 550's, 2nd gen maf, afc, 2.5'', AFPR, and a wally. But i was on a 14b and that is a difference!

Looks pretty close to my mods, hopefully I can hit a 13 when I go this fall.

Also to the guy who said minimal gains with an exhaust.... you can gain as much as 30hp JUST from running a test pipe vs a cat, plus as much as 50 JUST from going to a full 3" TB.

WTF Maybe if you're running 30psi on a fp red, even then though, 30hp from a test pipe Must've been a pretty clogged up cat!

I like that, don't forget logger in there with #2 though

ya im sure you will run low 13's on that! i tunned the hell out of my car and made sure everything was good! The 255 wally and AFPR, 2nd gen maf, and injectors were working amazing! It was just a good day period when i ran that. To some that might not be a good enough accomplishment but for me it was awesome! Let me know how u do when u make a run!

For all of you guys hats off.. ill take picture everytime I make mods. just replaced 3 mos ago my plugs along when I change all the belts, hoses etc. remember I am just using this car only on weekends like 100- 200kms every week. dont worry guys ill follow all of your suggestions as i know i am in goodhands.
