intake no boost gauge

Hi well i have just received my k&n intake filter and i have always been told never to do any upgrade to a turbo car without getting a boost gauge first. well i dont have a boost gauge yet and i was wondering if it would be a big deal to go ahead and put on the filter? I dont think the boost would raise high enough to damage anything and i think thats why people tell me this. somebody please help me

You're fine if it's just an airfilter. No boost gauge is necessary for that. Before you plan on uping the boost though get a boost gauge
