heres where i got my intake. its a lot more expensive now. i got it during some sale, $165 shipped, but now its like $230.

I agree with Nikki. The only diff in pipes is appearance and the size. But as long as it is a "cold air" then it should work great. Even IF brand made a difference it would not be worth the extra .5 hp for the money. Youve already got the K&N so just grab up a cheap cold air off ebay and use your K&N cone filter on that. Also I used to have a short ram a long long time ago and I thought it made my low end just a tad bit peppier, might have been me. But it should still help you, even if you cant measure it in your seat.

Tip: Clamp the filter down while while the engine is cool then drive a bit and clamp it down with the engine hot. Shouldnt move after that. :thumb:

brand doesnt matter? i bet with some cheap o ebay intake you dont get a dual chamber design that creates mutiple sound wave frequencies that help charge the cylinder throughout the entire rpm range?

Awww crap ... I was really hoping no one would call me on that one ... ;)

i mean its sucks to have short ram .... cause the sound was kool as hell but on the long run it slows me down big time......i feel like a honda wit a auto trany .....LOL thats how slow i was .........so thats why i threw on my stock intake and never looked back on the ram air ebay crap ....... :thumbdown

I have the hp racing cyclone and it's pretty sweet(check my gallery) it sits about 6 inches off the ground and its right behind the black cover on the bumper(I removed it to get more air flow) Everyone is right CAI's sound sick at WOT :thumb:
BTW I got my hp cai from nopi.com for 90 bux

Of course your air filter is going to be hot. What did you expect when you took off the heat shield covering it? All you're doing is soaking up all the hot air sitting in the engine bay.

hondas and mazda short rams dont take up the heat like n/t eclipse do.... i never had this problem with other cars .........all im saying if n/t eclipse is known for taking up heat like that on a short ram intake why do companys like AEM and etc......even sell those set up's??????

i have a shitty ebay short ram intake and it works great.never had any problems and got great perfomace gains.I'm sure the AEM v2 or Injen is way superoir to mine but it's also superior to my bank account.LOL

they sell them because they are a cheaper way to gain a little power over your stock intake. the cone filter is really the only thing giving you more power, but the piping looks better.

And metal piping (or powder coated piping) doesn't absorb the heat as well as plastic.
