Installing 1g transmission into 2g car driveshaft length different.

I already have it installed into the car and the driveshaft is a tiny bit too short but the 2g shafts are different splines. What to do?

Use the tranny end axle cup for the 1g on the transmission on the 2g axle? Would that work?

What did you do for the front and rear mounts?

Fabricated my own to match the 6 bolt block. Everything is good but the right side cv shaft is a hair to short. So I have attempted to swap the cups but the bearings are larger and the spline is different so I am not sure if anybody has any ideas please help!

Just use 2g axles. They are the same going into the trans, but the length and hub splines are different.

There is no such thing as a 6-bolt or 7-bolt 5-speed transmission.

You have only 1G and 2G, any of which can physically bolt up to the other engine generation. As you've seen hinted at above in posts #3 and #4, there is an issue.

• A 1G car has three mounts on the engine itself and one on the transmission.
• A 2G car has three mounts on the transmission and one on the engine.

It isn't a matter of 6-bolt vs. 7-bolt; it's a matter of having enough mounting points to run one or the other in your particular application -- and apparently having the right axles.

The reason the original poster of this thread was able to use a 1G transmission is because he also has a 1G engine in his car. Thus, he was able to utilize the mounting points on the 1G engine block to fabricate appropriate mounts that would allow something like that.

A 2G engine does not have the provisions on the block for a mounting bracket to accommodate the front-roll stop because, again, it is on the transmission originally.

In the sweetest possible sense, it is not a bolt-in procedure and is not done very often because of that fact.
