Can I use an AWD transmission in my FWD car? Both are 1990.
The transfer case is not on the transmission and the bolt pattern is the same. The only thing that is different is that there is the shaft sticking out that would go to the transfer case but it does not interfere.

you could use an AWD transmission if you got one of those inserts that locks the diff- AWD guys use that to run on 2WD dyno's all the time.

Perhaps someone else could comment on the wisdom of doing that for the long term. ROFL

My car is a 90 FWD turbo. I have a 90 AWD 5 speed tranny. Can I use this tranny without the transfer case or is something seriously off? The bellhousing bolt pattern is identical on both trans. If not, what year FWD 5 speed transmissions can I put in my 90 car?
