i have a 90 1g with no motor or transmission. I'm looking to do a 4G63 t swap but the only motors i can find have the awd transmission. my 1g is a fwd car. so my question is if i get the 4G63 t with the awd transmission. if i replace the viscous coupler with a Viscous Coupling Eliminator dropped the diff output and seal that up.

how well will it work?
pros and cons?

It should work just fine and one big con is that the awd tranny is alot more heavier and more of a pain to pull off and install. If I was you and i would try to find a fwd tranny and make it easier on yourself and save some weight. I really cant think of a could pro unless you get it for a steal and you end up with an awd down the road then you would have a spare. If u get this combo you could always sell the awd tranny and use the money for a fwd tranny....this is just my .2 cents thou good luck man

Sell the awd transmission and buy a fwd transmission. It will cost you more in the long run to run the awd transmission with the viscous coupler eliminator than it will to just pick up a used fwd transmission.
