Install Motor into 2g with Trans in Car

Ok my entire motor is rebuilt and my gsx still has the trans in the car, is there any easy way about dropping the motor into car without removing the trans. And if that is not possible then what is the best way to reinstall the engine

Considering how difficult it is to put the tranny in with engine in, I dont see it being possible. If the engine is already out, everything is easy to access to remove the transmission. Pop the axles out, disconnect clutch line, plugs, and tranny mounts and its out. Its up to you if you want to attach the transmission to the engine before you install it, but I like to do one at a time (personal preference)

Just drop it in from the top. It is very doable. Just gotta be careful and watch what you are doing. I dropped the short block in first, then put the cylinder head on by hand. Took me 20 minutes. Only thing you have to watch is the angle the engine goes in, don't scrape the frame, engine mount(remove it if possible). Bam, engine installed.



EDIT: I have a manual transmission. I did not have to pull the transmission.

It's possible if you have an auto, that's what I did when I swapped a 6 bolt in my old car. With the manual you'll have to pull the trans most likely.

I personally like to mount the trans to the motor then drop it all as one using an engine leveler

You'd be better off mounting the trans to the engine before install or dropping the trans out and installing the motor, then installing the trans.

2g 5 speed CAN be put in with the trans in the car. Ive done it. It sucks, but its possible. take all the accessories off the front down to the timing cover to give you the most room. Its a tight fit but its possible.
