I'm having some unusual idle surge issues that I need to address as the Spyder is now my daily driver. Earlier today I started the car to be greeted with a high idle of ~2200. I drove for a little and the high idle turned into idle surge. I parked the car for about an hour and was able to get this data log.

Timeline:

0 - 474 seconds - Started the car drove through town, got on the expressway and drove a few miles. Idle was high, but not surging prior to jumping on the expressway.

When decelerating the WBO2 still showed a reading of ~14.7:1.

474s - 482s - Came to a stop light that was about to change so I didn't stop completely, but the idle started surging.

482s - 487s - Got mad at the car and went WOT.

487s - End - Car started acting normal and both the high idle and surge stopped. The car started shutting off the injectors under deceleration like normal.

I'm clueless, but I know there is something that caused that issue and I'm sure it's going to come back and bite me if I don't address this issue now.

I dont mean to sound like a dick with this response, but let your car warm up. Dont fire it up and just drive it. Think of it like a turbo timer. You time your turbo to get back to a certain temp, you should do the same on start up. Start your car, let it run for 5min or so, and u will be fine. Bet you dont see that problem again. Whats happening is your cold starting it, and the ECU is adding extra fuel in order for you to reach operating temp as quickly as safely possible. It ignores most sensors at this point. So when you go to drive it immediately, it is going to run very poorly at an idle and off throttle. Because your ecu is still trying to compensate for cold conditions in an engine that is being driven when it should not be.

I don't mean to sound like a dick either, but did you even look at the log before making that post? From the very beginning of his log, the coolant temp is above 190°.

I find it odd that you're getting no ISC reading at the beginning of that log.

I would start by watching this video and resetting your idle settings. Your AirflowPerRev is lower than it should be and your CombinedFT value isn't close enough to 0% for my liking.

I'd then make sure your ISCPosition reads 30. If not, slowly adjust the BISS screw a bit and let it settle to see which way you need to move it. Then make slow movements and let it adjust so you don't overadjust the screw.

Nope, cant read the link file types. I use MMCd and change to excel format to read my logs. Dont know how to read those logs. But his description stated, started, drove, surge, drove more, surge, stopped, logged. So sorry if I was a little confused by the description. Apparently I need to get link to understand, cause my logger is way different.

I always boost leak test before dealing with idle issues. It takes care of the problem most of the time.
