Idle lean probelm

I have a idle problem......Sitting at idle i am running extremely lean like 20 a/f ratio. And driving and coming to a red light everyonce and awhile it turns almost once to fall on its face if not it does stall.....

I am running dsmlink v3.....I have it running in open loop all the time right now because i need a front o2 sensor i dont know if that is my problem or not.....but was looking for some input on what this could be........The car runs fine driving it a/f are all good just having the idle issue coming to a red light.....

You answered your own question. You need a front o2 sensor.

appreciate it......i didnt know if that would cause it or not.....since i have it locked in open loop wasn't sure cause it should ignore the front o2

I have my wideband in my front o2 housing. So I dont have a stock sensor there. My car runs fine.

Op: usually when your 02 goes bad. your car runs rich. Low voltage (aka zero with broken sensor) tells the ecu to deliver more fuel. How do you know your afr?

This is because your running narrowband simulation. Correct?

OP- The front O2 sensor controls fuel trims. It's basically what tells the ECU how to adjust the fuel at idle and cruise. If it's giving a false reading, the ECU will constantly try to adjust the fuel in the right direction (rich/lean) to get to stoich at idle. I would replace the front O2 sensor as soon as possible with a direct fit O2 sensor (not a universal splice type). Here's a good link for O2 sensors for our cars.

Also, are you venting to atmosphere? Or is the BOV recirculated? If venting that can cause the engine to stall when coasting in neutral.

atmosphere.....and understand that o2 signal delivers signal and controls fuel trims....

like i said it just kinda didnt make sense to me ### if i have the ecu locked in open loop...but i thought it should just ignore the o2 signals when in open loop......am i wrong??

I just changed my front o2 about 2 weeks ago. At first I bought the regular plug n play one but the wire didnt reach all the way up due to the position of the o2 sensor so I bought the universal one and so far its been doing great. why do you say the universal splice types are no good?

Im not asking to be a dick, just really want to know if im headed towards an ice berg or not

Yes narrowband simulation. It just blew by me.

Its just better to have a plug and play one . Who wants a car that's all sliced.
