as of the moment, my 7bolt is pulled apart. i have a brand new 7 bolt short block assembly[bored 20 over with wiseco pistons(unsure of compression rate)]. the crank and rods are stock already assembled ready to install. i am buying all arp main/rod/head studs. i have a 16g with tubular manifold and screamer elbow. i have plans to buy 650cc injectors, but what else could i do to get extra power while the engine is apart? i'm working on a budget, so i want to start off as cheap as possible (i know those words should never come from a dsmer's mouth but unfortunately it's true). this is about to be our only car due to my wife and dad being tired of borrowing and putting all our money in his car to keep it going and i need to get our car back together, but i want to know what would be a good start while the engine is out and i have a couple of weeks and a few hundred to work with. and i almost forgot i have a rewired warlboro 255.

i don't know if this will help you guys with anything or not, but this car is being built for my wife her name is stephanie. she is a full blown eclipse fanatic has been all her life. and i finally went out and bought her an eclipse the middle of last year. she has hopes and dreams of her car one day reaching atleast the 11 second mark. i didn't really want to put this up because i didn't want to exploit my wife as to the fact that not many people in our small town know about everything, but torward the end of last year, she was diagnosed with cervical cancer. they performed surgery, but have no clue if they got everything or not, and will not know until april (how crazy is it for the long hesitated wait huh?) but i would love to help her reach as close to this goal in anyway possible which is why i'm doing everything i can bit by bit to get this together. she is the love of my life and i would do anything she could ever ask. she was working 2 jobs before everything, but the doctors told us not to strain her, so now she's working one job that doesn't pay crap, which is why i put my project to the side(sr20det convertible). i have sold my sr20 and transmission to help get her car together(she has no clue, she thinks the engine is still under the tarp sitting where the front seat would be in my car). i'm not asking for financial help in anyway, just knowledge. i know based on my budget i won't safely meet 11's in this car, but i want to get close as i can bit by bit. if you've made it this far, i want to personally thank you for reading. it shows a dedication among dsmers which is why i regret ever getting rid of my GST. but times have been really tough. please no bogus knocks or downing of my thread. this is something that is very emotional and have no reason for foul remarks unless you've been through it. yes to some cervical cancer isn't much, but cancer does spread! and they've even told her it's possible they didn't get everything, and we know the possibilities, and it's already killing us by not knowing anything.

:applause:while the block pulled id install a balance shaft elimination kit (no real hp but will make it a better dd)
also look into running e85
your guna want bigger injectors if you want to get to 11's
if you dont have an eprom ecu buy that, a safc, a wideband o2, and a GM maf-t
your going to get most of your bang with your tuning and those should all help

good luck with your eclipse i wish you both the best:thumb:

what exactly is an e85? i forgot to mention that i've already done the BSE. and if 650cc aren't big enough, what's the largest injectors i can run with my setup to be efficient in the powerband? and the 98/99 eclipse ecu's are concidered eprom right?

no the 98-99 ecus are not eprom they are the flashable ones. Jeff O. from dsmchips.com can hook you up, I got my openport 2.0 cable and my ecu and evoscan from him for a really good price. Upgrades like injectors arent worth having unless you have something to tune them with, unless you like running super rich like 10.0 at idle

Here - E85 is an alcohol fuel mixture that typically contains a mixture of up to 85% denatured fuel ethanol and gasoline or other hydrocarbon (HC) by volume. On an undenatured basis, the ethanol component ranges from 70% to 83%.

for you cheapest way into the 11's..
I would get a holset hx35 (or hx40 will get you there for sure).. atleast 1000cc injectors(maybe 1200's for e85), Run E85, get something to tune and run about 30psi and you should get damn close if not getting it!

to run the holset you can get a bep housing to bolt straight to the DSM exhaust or you can get a t3/t4 exhaust manifold and have to customize the downpipe! But the hx35 spools at almost the same rate as the 16g and will blow a MASSIVE amount of air!!
Get the GM MAF w/ MAFT and flash you ecu to run all these!

just make sure you do all regular maintenance on it!!
I Promise you will have great out come, you can search up threads on the holset and see for yourself!!
Here ill do it for you... Heres the the link to the main thread.. There is PLENTY to read and to prove it will help you!
http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/turbo-system-tech/353498-holset-turbos-part-7-a.html

I wish the best to you both and hope you hit that mark man!!
God Bless!!!

And also.. keep us updated on the car in the run it gets! i would love to see a dream come true!

so just use the basic holset turbo off of a cummings engine i find in a junkyard? that won't overboost or anything? should i use stock holset wastegate, or use a flange to block off the stock and run external? i'm like starting with less than $1000. that's why i was asking about anything internal i should do for the time being. 11 seconds is a goal for her, and i know i can't do it with the amount of money i have now. especially with the bills. that's why i planned to keep the 16g for the time being and just run some fairly bigger injectors, and have the car professionally tuned. i'm far from a tuning person. i'm complete dumbfounded when it comes to tuning a car. so i think i should just leave it to a professional. i think i would be lucky to work the safc2 series. LOL. ALSO, if i'm getting the car professionally tuned, do i have to get an eprom ecu, or are there other options considering my financial situation, and if that burden lightens up, then go for the 11 second car. right now, i just want to get the car fairly quick and driveable. i atleast want her to wax a few turbo b18 crx's (not a huge goal i know). LOL .....did i mention this is specifically HER car. she will be the daily driver, and she will be the track star. so i'm glad i was blessed with a wife that wants to be a part of the car world. believe it or not, she's helping assemble the engine!

ok, i JUST found out that i have a 95 eprom ecu part numbers MD309947 and it has the E in the bottom right corner. i pulled the cover off and got the eprom chip number EB23E. so i'm debating on ECMlink lite, but i don't know anything about tuning? should i just send the ecu in and have it socketed for what i'm running?

oh well is it the evo 16g or small 16g...? well the 16g will get you there.. there is people that hit 11s with a 14b.. hard but possible!
so yes the eprom, v3 lite, bigger injectors(1000-1200cc), 255 walbro fuel pump, afpr to control fuel pressure, e85, and turn the boost up after you get it tuned good!

when you get ecmlink you will get access to the forum with them and you can get plenty of help from there on helping you use the software!!

lets see:
v3 lite: $345
Inj.: (sure you can get some used ones on here cheap)
255lph wally: $150
e85: $2.80/gallon
afpr: $200
Turning the boost UUUPP!!: 25+psi: Free

Running 11's: Priceless!!!!

haha
its possible to do it on a cheap budget, if you look at the wiki on our cars.. they were the easiest 10-second cars to date

goodluck man

while you have it pulled apart. spend the 300$ and buy some better rods. with wiseco pistons what is the point of having shitty stock 7 bolt rods? that is gonna be the part that goes first with the setup your running. better to do it now then later.. rods are cheap...

Yes definitely. Seems like a really weird build to have stock 7 bolt rods with wiseco pistons.

ya i read over that... 7 bolt rods are known to be weak, but i had someone build my motor and they had around 450hp and 28+psi of boost on the 7bolt rods till they snapped!
now hes rebuilding and his build is insane!

BUT to the OP... ya its not a bad choose to get some strong rods! and you are already going with wiesco pistons so you good on that!

well i don't know what kind of job people that call $400 cheap for rods, but i don't have that kind of money for the rods at the moment. i was told i could push under 400hp safely with stock, and that's fine with me at the moment. i plan on changing the rods on down the road when i do my next pull and can afford the 11 second goal, but as of right now we would be fine outrunning a turbo b18 crx

I got my Eagle rods for $280 shipped from a vendor here. I'd say that's cheap for a set of forged rods.

yea, if someone could find me a set of H-beam forged rods for under $300 shipped, i would do it without a doubt. but you have no clue at the bills i have right now, so anything much more than that is kinda out of the question. i do have more than $300 but i would rather get the car to the 400hp mark where the car is still safe, and use it as a daily. then when i have the money, pull the engine and add to what i already have and shoot for the 11 second mark

well you could always use 1g rods, they are known to hold up pretty well. not sure what all you would need to do to get them to work with the 7 bolt wiesco pistons you have but im sure its not more than what you would have to do to fit them on the 2g pistons!

i actually have a pair of 1g rods, but from sitting out in the garage with the dew and moisture they accumulated a lil bit of surface rust! If you figure you want to try that out contact me!

otherwise i will look for some h beams for you..

edit:

Well here... simply search on ebay got it for you!!

these are 7 bolt Manley h beams:

And these are 7 bolt Eagle h beams:

hoped that helped!!
if soo... you know what to do

i may could go that route, but could someone tell me more about the holset turbos? can i just use a cummings hx35 from a junkyard?

Yes if you look at that holset thread I linked earlier, the first page gives a few different turbos and what they came off of. Yes you can get them off trucks and some tractors... read through those threads.. everythings there you need to know, if not ask what you would like to know.

yeah buddy, a good set of forged rods won't be over 300$ shipped from a good vendor on here. it will make it so you do not have to upgrade internals later. sticking with your 16g for now is a great idea. push that thing on some e-85. if you run arp studs and a cometic or oem HG. you will be able to push that car pretty far into some good numbers. i like to copper spray my gaskets also... i pulled 28psi no problem with a felpro HG copper sprayed and some arp's... and felpro's are thinner firing rings and all. cheap at autozone. good luck with your budget build man. your motor right the first time is key. it is always easy to add bolt on parts later...
