STock exhaust sound but want more power

Ive tried searching and i have found nothing, i have a exhuast question i have a 98 gst and i just bought a 3inch downpipe with cat delete and right now i have stock muffler i like the nice quiet sound when im crusing down the freeway and or just in town, but i want more power, i was wondering if i get a 3inch piping from the turbo back and have the stock muffler at the end, what results will i have and how will it sound, or do you think the stock muffler will just restrict all my power.

Stock muffler = sux0rz. Get a Magnaflow.

You can put one or two resonators in the exhaust to quiet it down a litte..the noise is well worth the free flowing exhaust, though!!

I agree. You can get a Magnaflow turbo series muffler for like 60 bucks on ebay. It's very quiet at idle and cruising and sounds great under full throttle. Just make sure you don't buy a 24" one.

Running 3' exhaust all the way to the stock muffler is not going to net you as much power as if you used a beter flowing muffler. You can keep the car quite in town and on the freeway by staying off the gas.

Ok heres what i got so far, I was at my friends house and he gave me an
OBX "Racing muffler" i hate the name too, ok so now im wating for my downpipe and then i could put the muffler on, my next question is do i really need a full 3 inch or can i get away with the 3inch downpipe and the muffler in the back with the stock pipes between the cat and the muffler. im basiclly stock just intake and i did the Boost selenoid mod.

look its not possible to be as quiet as stock without the stock exhaust, also chances are that the OBX muffler is like 2 inch piping if your lucky. Mate up an Apexi N1 or similar exhaust, it has 2 resonator and a flow thru muffler, its pretty damn quiet. Also your gonna want a cat if you want to be quiet.

I like it loud, I have 2.5 exhaust piping, removed the resonators, added a glasspackafter the high-flow cat, and apexi n1 muffer

if you want quiet while crusing etc but loud at WOT then just get an apexi n1 muffler and but the ats silencer. http://www.autocarparts.com/parts/Exhaust/Silencers/Apexi/

Ok well i think im ganna go ahead and put the OBX cause im kinda short on cash right now ill change it later, is there a difference in sound between the obx and N1 the design dont look any different. o and the OBX is 3 inlet and 4 outlet
