I was at the track with my 95 Talon TSI FWD automatic and i ran a 16 flat 3 times in a row. I had everything to my advantage my reaction time was alwasy around .050 which is really good i think. But should my car be running a 16 flat with a turbo LOL. I have no mods done to it whatsoever yet so it might be right but what do u guys think?

Whats your elevation? Is your car in perfect running condition? Is it really a quarter mile drag strip?

Maybe you should not be granny shifting and start double clutching  ?

Seriously though automatic = no launch and slow starts so 16 is prolly what a stock auto dsm would do if it had small minor problems with lots of mileage

if u have never modified anything on it, and it has alota miles... then u could have a boost leak. and thats an EZ fix...

We need a little more details than that. What were your 60foot, 1/8 mile time/mph, and 1/4 mile time a mph.

Also how are you launching it?

That sounds about right. 13g and an auto. I couldn't see anything better than high 15s even if you stall it up

R/T : .082
60 foot: 2.402
1/8: 10.316
1000: 13.400
1/4: 16.000
MPH: 86.82

Is that enough info for ya? How do i know if i have boost leak?

You mph is really low. I would look for boost leakes and possibly a tune up if its been a while.

And Cyclone_90, 2g's had a t25 in both auto and 5spd. The 13g and 14b didnt live past 94 on dsm's. Thats why 2g guys swap in the 14b.

My automatic 92' FWD automatic ran 16 flat as well. It has ~120 compression across, has an HKS 2 3/8" catback, HKS air filter, 450cc's, a test pipe and a 14B. Those runs were at stock boost - BCS in place and I never ever checked the car for boost lelaks. It was trapping ~88-89mph but my 60fts were almost consistently 2.7 & 2.8 no matter how "hard" I launched or stalled it. :thumb:

It would probably run a high 15 if I checked/fixed boost leaks and dropped the 60' to the 2.4 range. The launch is just too lazy. :|

O my bad I didn't notice you have a 2g. My mistake

u need a boost guage to tell if u have a boost leak... or well... if u notice that ur power actually weakens as u get into the higher rpms, then thats prolly the case...

ur 60ft time was prett bad... so that adds to the bad time... uh try the torque launch thingy or whatever

search to forums and there are some really simple ways to make boost leak testers, and the actuall testing for the leak is even easier...

120 compression is pretty low for a 1G. If I recall that is below "service limit".

16 flat doesn't sound right, try running some stickier tires, maybe some drag radials.

16 flat sounds right to me. Car is stock. Stock is slow.

My 1995 Eclipse GS ran a 15.9...

Check for boost leaks, and how did you launch it? You 60 foot times suck.. ;)

For an automatic, if you ran a 16flat with a 5-speed, time to sell that DSM.

Please stop spreading miss information like this.

The automatics are not that much slower stock than the manuals. Stock, in good running condition, a awd turbo dsm should with out a doubt be in the 15s

I ran a 15.3 with just a cat back and boost controller in our 93' talon TSI Auto... even hit a 2.0 60 ft once.... and this is at 5800ft ASL

I think I was able to get 3k something rpm stall on the stock drivetrain.

Stock vs stock, auto will lose. 16.0 sounds perfect for an automatic stock DSM. Light goes grean, mash the throttle and 16 seconds later you're done. You're right tho, it should of ran a high 15, but when you're that slow is there really a difference?

Stock for stock they should be very close to even. Yes. Can you build boost of the line with your 5-speed? There is no reason why his car shouldn't be in the 15s if it was in good running condition. Put a shift kit in the automatic and it will out drag a 5 speed very easily. Very little human error, plus it will shift much faster than a 5-speed can.

There is someone on this board who easily hit 10s untuned with his automatic with a shift kit with less than 5k in parts.
