i searched about alternators here and there were tons of answears BUT i didnt find this:

where do i buy a new alternator other than on mitsubishi?

wich brand is the OEM manufacter?

thanks !:thumb:

OEM is an actually mitsubishi unit.. It has the mitsu symbol stamped on the OEM unit... I don't know what kind of auto stores you have down there but up here you can buy one at any auto parts store, of course not OEM..

ok. like contitech makes the belts for our cars, wich brand makes the alternators?

im going to buy there, USA. just need to know a website.

thnks

The remans rarely ever last. So if buy one of those make sure they have good amount of years warranty. Yeah an oem is gonna cost big money, but it would be less of a headache if you got a oem.

AutoZone is lifetime warrantied....Non transferrable though, I tried :ohdamn: But in your situation you'd have to send the core back to get a refund, may be a hassle and a yearly ritual.

Edit: However, don't let the word "Duralast" fool you.....LOL.

That is not necessarily true. The same principle applies with aftermarket water pumps, belts, and gaskets such as fel-pro.
If you get known good aftermarket parts to not go oem, which by the way oem manufacturers actually pay a company to make their stuff, they will be ok.

Believe me the reman dsm alternators don't last. Better off buying a used oem if you can find one.

A saturn alternator swap is a smart choice but that requires some modification.

Getting a reman is pretty much taking a chance. Thats what we all get though.

reman alternators arent always the best but most around me come with llifetime warranty

ok. but i want to buy a new one. reman isnt good for me even with lifetime warranty because i live in brazil and its very expensive do sendo the alternator to the USA and back.

did someone use this bosch i posted?

local parts store reman should be fine. Used them everytime and had to problems. as long as they hold charge correctly there fine no matter what brand. Just get the same rated one of course

I got one from advanced auto and hasn't given me any issues. Plus the whole lifetime warranty thing is nice...

hey a friend told me that the alternator on mitsubishiparts.com is refurb, does anyone know about this?

OEM is the only way to go.
Bosch = German Engineering at its worst.
Autozone alternators = Equal re-manufactured in Mexico, i worked at Autozone for a year, we had to scrape the sticker that said Remanufacturados en Mexico.

in canada autozone is called partsource. i have purchased 2 remans within 6 months of eachother due to complete failure. on one of them the bolts that hold the housing together started to come apart. it was self distructing itself right before my eyes. and the other just totally failed due to the brushes crumbleing apart into chucks of dust.

if you buy from there, keep your receipt. i didn't and i got to pay twice $250+.

when i questioned the manager about the failures, he blamed me for not being able to install an alternator. he said he would warrenty the alternator up to two times, but on the third failed unit i would need a mechanic to install it to verify it was done correctly.

i guess this thread is solved. don't buy a remanufactured alternator. it won't last OEM long. (unless alternator replacement is on your yearly tune up list)

going against my own advice, has anyone had luck with the remanufatured super high output 140-150amp alternators on eBay? i like the sounds of it, but is it reliable?

Well I bought a Remanufactured from Schucks; it is an OEM unit!

As far as brands, the brand names change (on the box), it is not that relevant, because they can still be an OEM or who knows what, IMHO.

Mine said Autolite, but it was a reman Mitsubishi! Comes with a lifetime warranty. Look at the warranty period. If it is long warranty and close by, that means it's quick and easy to switch out.

The biggest benefits to this:

1. Local parts store means warranty exchange will be faster.

2. It's an OEM unit!

3. Price

But basically as far as these 2 accesories: waterpump, alternator, I have found just go for a local source, and look for a lifetime warranty. With a water pump, make sure it is brand new, and has the metal propeller (the lifetime ones probabaly all do anyway).

Well keep your receipt.

Some people can't afford to buy from Mitsu.

Warranties are there for a reason, and you need to keep the receipt. No offend=se, it sucks what happened I agree.

What warranty alternator did you buy? Did it have a mitsubishi diamonds on it? The one I got from Schucks does, and has the lifetime warranty.

I guess your mileage may vary. At lease the alternator is easy to do, at least after the first time (that bolt on bottom can be hard to pull out the first time LOL).

By the way, get one that has about 10-20 amps more than stock, I did this time.
