I Need Help Please! 3 years and my talon is still not running!

Im about to pull my hair out. nobody here in arkansas knows jack about our obsession. i need to time my engine. it still has the balance shafts and all how do i know if my cams are in time. i know about the marks but the pins that hold the gear from spinning, is that supposed to be below the bolt that holds the gear on? my camshaft gears have marks on opposite sides of the gear.line the middle ones up? and balance shafts, how do i make sure they are in sinc. i dont want any vibration.

whenever i try to start it, it drags over, then jerks, every once in awhile itl backfire out the exaust......this engine is newly rebuilt, i just wanna make sure the timing is right.WTF

Then don't try to start it if you don't know if the timing is right, use your head. In fact, you may have ruined your head by trying to start it, because your timing sounds like it is off due to the backfire and such.

there should be alot of threads on doing the timing.
do a little searching before you post.

but yes its mainly lining up all the markers where they are supposed to be lined up.
get someone who knows the ways to help you.

..and those marks (Cams, Sprockets, etc) have to be dead on to their respective marks on the block and head - no off-mark setting allowed.
