Okay so I'm thinking about buying an eclipse gsx tomorrow because it seems to be a very good price for it. But I really don't know much about turbo'd cars, he said he installed a 20g Godspeed turbo, Godspeed headers, bigger cams, gapless rings, blitz bov, the thing is he said its needs to be dynotuned because of all the upgrades he said the car falls on its face at 6500 rpms. But my question is do you all think that's all it really needs is dyno tuned? Like I said I'm no mechanic I'm very new to turbo cars I just don't want to buy it and get into a huge money pit

Godspeed= eBay junk. That's definitely a strike against the car. There is also no such thing as "gapless" rings. Piston rings have gaps, otherwise you wouldn't even be able to install them. The car is probably running poorly at 6500rpm because he has no fuel upgrades with the bigger turbo. So it's likely been running lean and doing god-knows-what damage.

Unless its a REALLY good price or a REALLY clean car, I'd pass. It could very easily be a barrel of snakes with how uneducated the owner is.

It is in good shape honestly has koning rims, 89,000 original miles interior is very clean with in dash DVD player, I have him talked down to 3600 is it worth it?

Wes there is gapless rings, theyre called totalseal. I personally don't have any experience with them, just heard of em before. http://www.totalseal.com/TechPage.aspx#trGaplessPistRings

But I agree, the owner sounds like a dork. And to the OP, I would never buy a modded car if I didn't know the tech behind it all. It will turn out to be a long dark road...

I also would look more into the car! You don't wanna end up buying someone else's project and one month later have it break down. You will heavily regret it! Then have one hell of a time finding out the problem. I'd find as close to stock DSM and buy that before I buy a heavily modded one!

But my question is do you all think that's all it really needs is dyno tuned?
How the hell are we supposed to know that? Seriously.

Buy the car- it's either a piece of shit, or it's not. Nobody was there to hold my hand when I bought any of my cars- I took just as big of a risk as anyone else.

Pointless thread is pointless.
