i have a 1990 gst eclipse i have a vaccume line comming off the wastegate but not one comming off the turbo (14b) i wanna turn the boost down its pushing 16psi and thats WAY too much how would i hook up the boost controller?:aha::banghead:

Connect the vacuum hose on the wastegate to the vacuum nipple on the J pipe. Put the boost controller on that hose.

you jpipe is the pipe coming off the turbo in the shape of a j

There is your problem. Someone with no brain touched your car.

Hook the BOV to the intake manifold and take out the T. Hook the wastegate to the lower intercooler piping, as close to the turbo as possible. Come back and tell us the results.

a boost controller CAN turn the boost down IF it was unhooked completely!!! But then the wastegate wouldnt open at all!

Seeing its hooked up wrong then ya you will need to hook the wastegate directly to the j-pipe!
Then you should be boosting anywhere from 5psi-8psi maybe 10psi just on the stock spring!

My stock 14b spring opens at 6psi!

How about you just delete your post and all proof of having no clue what you are talking about. Unhooking your boost controller doesn't lower your boost. It either causes you to build uncontrollable boost or go back to stock/wastegate spring settings.

boost "CONTROLLER"

A wastegate opens when it sees a certain pressure from the vacuum line attached to it. A manual boost controller (MBC) intercepts the pressure and wont let it reach the wastegate until it is a higher pressure. Therefore a MBC can only raise the boost level. If it is hooked up wrong or not hooked up at all, that is not the MBC's fault.

Here is the best way to install your MBC. It's got pictures and makes it very, very easy to understand. You should never "T" into your BOV line for anything. http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/articles-turbo-system-intercooler/237982-best-way-install-mbc.html

Hope this helps!

Simply put, you can't go lower boost than what the internal spring in the waste gate is set at. unless something catastrophic happened to the internal spring, like it breaking and just opening at low boost levels. but like spawndx said, a controller cannot turn down boost. it bleeds off boost that would otherwise see the waste gate and force it to open. so if your WG is set at 10psi and your controller bleeds off 5psi, it will take 15psi inorder to have the WG see 10psi and open. if your controller is removed, the waste gate defaults on its own spring.
