Who give a flying Fu(k about V-Tec....Congrats on your win....everyone else....just say gj and yes, race him again...let him be the judge..wow..

I believe v-tech is more agressive, as in has longer durations out of all the other car companies.

There are different Honda owners. Some beleive Vtech is the sheezy and others think its overated(just like us). I drove my friends CRX when he put a B16 in it and all it did was get louder in Vtech. He was like "did u feel it hit vtech?"...... "uh no, it got louder though" perhaps it was the lousy 111 ftlbs of torque it had. Another guy I know has a new Type-S, you can actually feel the vtech kick in on it. IMO the problem with honda's is that you have to run them piss tight to get power out of them. Most of those motors have nothing for torque and if Vtech is supposed to widen the torque band then if it doesn't have sheezy for torque you aren't gonna feel it. I've raced hatches, rex's(with B16 swaps), and that type-s with headers, intake n exhaust. I've taken all of them with a bad set of wires and plugs. I lost to a rex with a B16 and a 75 shot though. Let honda owner do their thing and we'll do ours, its like ford vs dodge. I personally woundnt mind if Mitsu put something like that in the EVO because it HAS torque and a bump like that could make a set of balls bigger than the ones already on there.

i wish i had read this earlier, i dont have alot of experience with dsm's, but i have been building chevy smallblocks since i could drive and what eclipsed said is right about no backpressure, people ,istake backpressure for exhaust velocity, the velocity scavages the exhaust from the engine, notice how nascar have straight out exhaust and dragsters have none at all.

 I call BS...i really don't think you know the difference between a GSR and an LS.

a gsr is NOT better than a type R, a lightly modded LS would NOT beat a GSR. come on people. of course driver skill is not factored in. VTEC is for real, not as noticeable as a turbo when it kicks in but still pretty good for NA. I was in the Honda camp when i was younger, now i'm more into dsm and nissans. A type R would beat a GST in a standing quarter. no matter what year. where the power band start falling off for our DSM, the type R would pull all the way to redline. who cares about low end torque for a standing street race. Have you not notice but when you're racing. You only use the upper half of the tach. Dsm dollar for dollar are faster when you start added mods. With a simple downpipe and exhaust, the GST would smoke the type R. I'm not mentioning anything about a GSX since that's apple and oranges there.

look at the date on the above posts man, your not arguing with anybody... :aha:

i can't believe this thread was brought back to life especially after i just got done reading a thread about starting a "kill" section to the forums. im glad threads like this on tuners don't last long, after 60 posts the topic still continues... :toobad:

NO read what u said. You dont need back pressue. You need high stream velocity. Backpressure is not what you need. You are tihnking about it wrong. Think of it this way. You want an exhasut that will be able to give you the right amount of stream veloicty, and not sacrifice torque. So you get an exhasut that will provide that. If you get oen thats to big the stream velocity would be crappy, so it flows less. A little Bckpressure wont give you more stream velocity. It would slow it down. I really dont see how you dont understand this. Post in the Advanced forum if you dont want to listen to me.

I guess Horsepower TV, Mustang monthly, Hot rod, and other such mags are wrong also? HUH?

Totally agree with your post. I come from the Toyota's 2zz-ge with vvtl-i.(Matrix xrs and Corolla xrs) And basically BACKPRESSURE is a myth, you should avoid it, whether is for NA or for turbo applications. Just in case you're wondering I was using a 2.5" no cat no res.:hellyeah:

EDIT: Sorry didn't look at the thread date

I was wondering why I was reading a Vtec Flame war. I had not seen one of these for 5 years. Made me feel old LOL.

My 1987 Integra is MAD fast d00ds.
haha jk. It has a D16A1 motor and the only thing its good for is gas mileage.
Why hasn't Lofty responded in this thread?!
