I have one of these sitting in the shop at workout of an 04 Sonata, and it looks very similar to my 4g63.
How similar are these engines?
Can I use the shortblock with everything else from my Eclipse? ( head, manifolds, turbo???

Nope...not from an 04 Sonata. It is a complete different engine. Engine mounts are different too.
If you want a 2.4L you can find them in the 90-92 Sonatas and Dodge Colt/Vistas.

I thought it was 89-91. And they did also come from Colts and Vistas? I didn't know that. Can someone else verify this as this would extend my car selection in finding the elusive 2.4L bolt.

i have the 95 galant 2.4 bock in my tsi with the 6 bolt head

And that is the 7 bolt version of the 2.4L (the Sonata/Colt/Vista is the 6 bolt). Just to clear that up to the OP.

It helps but the year info is sketchy and it does not specify the 2.4 or does it?

It is the "Size" column. That is the cc's of the engine. 1997cc = 2.0L. 2350cc = 2.4L.

The only thing I couldn't figure out is the "Designation" column doesn't seem right (as well as the "Year" column as you mentioned). I'm really not sure how good this is but it was just something I had found and figured it might help in some way. Someone who knows the 2.4L engine should post a list of what cars it can be found in though (as this chart doesn't seem all that helpful).

Yeah i would like to know what years they can the 2.4 be found in and if they are 6/7 bolts. Also specify the car a little more in detail. It would be nice cause i would like to make a 2.4 stroker on a budget.

Is there a Good/Bad version of the 2.4?

Like the 7 bolt 2G's?

Another words which is the desired setup? (Great this gives me something else to start searching/building on LOL)

I don't necessarily think there's a good/bad version. I've never heard of any crankwalk in a 7 bolt 2.4L (but if someone has, please let me know). Most of the time people go with what they can find. The G4CS (6 bolt version) seems to be very hard to find so more people are going with the 4G64. It's just a personal preference (my preference being the G4CS :thumb:).

Alrighty, Thanks for the input.

Guess I'll start doing some research on machine work and such.:rocks:

Keep in mind that most people building 2.4's are usually serious about their cars and aren't driving 100k+ miles on the engine so crankwalk may not show up. Just a thought.

I just got finished installing my built 2.4L 6 bolt 4g64 myself... I got it out of a 91 Mitsu Expo AWD, 2.4L SOHC. Later on in the week, I also found another identical 6 bolt block in a 92 Eagle Summit FWD, 2.4L SOHC (Currently for sale in the classifieds).
These motors are 100% bolt in for our 1st gens! -No blocking off oil drain passages or any other BS associated with the 4GCS Hyundai blocks... Basically, the only difference between the 4g64 6 bolts and our 1st gen 4g63s is the 6mm taller deck height, the 86.5mm OEM bore, the 100mm stroke crank, and individual (x5 total) main caps. All 1st gen stuff bolts on with exception to the timing cover & the OEM rear intake plenum support (both can be modified to fit though, PM me for details).
As for the 2nd gen, the later model (+92, 7 bolt, 2.4L SOHC) Expos, Summits, Colts, Sonatas, and Vistas that have the 2.4L setup that have the same motor/tranny setup as a 2g 4g63 would be the best setup... These all have 3 tranny mounts and 1 engine mount vs that of the 1g's that have 3 motor mounts and 1 tranny mount... You can see my crappy illustration in another thread here:

So far, I've personally installed my 2.4L and I now have ~300 miles on it w/my current mod list still in effect for now, minus the boost controller... I can't wait to see what this monster will do once I throw some serious boost at it. Even under 10psi w/ my existing 50 trim, this thing is quite impressive :thumb::rocks::talon:

Well I do plan on this being a on and off daily driver. Mostly weekends but hopefully I can drive it through the week also.

Most of my mods are current in my profile. ALL THE PARTS ARE BRAND NEW! I haven't even got to start the car on the current setup. So I'd like to at least put a little miles on this setup to see if I'm going to want something bigger or if this is going to be enough (I want mid 11 out of it) for me. From the front seat back it is stripped except for interrior pieces. See below.
