Well I searched but I guess I didn't use the right terms because I couldn't find an answer.
So if this has been asked, forgive me.

Will a 2g head fit on the g4cs sonata 2.4 block? or should i just use a 1g head? Is the 2.4 sonata block basically a 1g, and the 2.4 mitsu 7 bolt basically a 2g?

Thanks guys! :dsm:

If the 2G head fits, with its smaller ports it would be an absolute weapon with a big 16g in the lower rev ranges!
If you can put a 1G head on a 2g i cant see any reason why it wouldn't go on.

yeah it would. hopefully a 2g head will work. i actually will drive the car for the break in period with the 16g turbo i have now. i am hoping to have shep build the tranny and block and throw on a bj's stage 3 head. so for like 500 miles that setup will have the 16g on it. but after that...an hx-40 looks mighty nice ;)

Tranny bolts up, head bolts up. You can't run a 4G63 head on a stock G4CS because it gives you around 11:1 compression. I would run atleast a T3 flanged turbo, a mitsu housing is getting very small to force 2.4L worth of air through.

the g4cs won't be stock. wiseco's/eagles/clevites is what i am looking at right now. people are having excellent results with the bullseye housing and holset turbos on the 2.3's and 2.4's....

well that the point most guys use the 4hcs block is to rebuld it to make the compression aroun 9:1 ot 8.8:1 around there but the head will fit but like canadian tlaon said hte 11:1 compression if you would have left it stock would be nasty

And they'd see better results with a T3 or T4 frame turbo. Heck, we picked up over 40 RWHP at the same boost level on a friends 2.3T ford, from a .82 A/R stage 5 hot side to a .81 A/R P-trim hot side, with the same 60-1 comp wheel and TO4S housing. The mitsu flange is just so small that you'll see more power, and less detonation on pump gas going to a larger exhaust side.

You know that the original exhaust housing on HX35's and HX40's is T3 and T4 flanged, right? ;) :)
