So basically a project of mine is coming together.
Im putting the Hyundai head on my 6 bolt block. My last question (I hope) is about timing.

http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/shop-trying-to-pull-fast-one-1g-head-vs-2g-head.328921/

I found these two threads, and they only really made me question it.
Do I time the Hyundai head, with its hyundai cams, using the same marks and all as i would a stock turbo head?
Like dowel pins at 12 0clock and notches in the cam gears level.

I saw in the one thread that the cams need to be retarded 1 gear. Its made unclear if its both cams or just one. If one which one?

I figured this would be pretty important, so I wanted to double check and see what you guys think before I go putting the belt on.
Just need some opinions.

Thanks guys!

Is this a Un decked head and block?[DOUBLEPOST=1417026247][/DOUBLEPOST]And what cams r u planning on running. The hyundai non turbo cams stock turbo cams or aftermarket cams?[DOUBLEPOST=1417026753][/DOUBLEPOST]All the post is saying is there is a 5° valve over lap with the hyundai cams this is when the intake closing event and the exhaust open even over lap so both valves would be open at the same time retarding the exhaust cam 1 tooth would cut this over lap time down but not totally X it out with my head calculator I can not confirm or debunk this. I am not running this set up. Only way to truly check this would be with a degree wheel and dial indicator checking opening and closing events of the intake and exhaust cams the posters numbers sound correct on the subject but I'm not 100% sure I would either degree wheel it or drop a set of good known turbo cams in the hyundai head and call it a day

Interesting...
Well I was planning on running the Hyundai cams. And either timing them normally or timing them retarded.
How ever wouldnt retarding the exhaust, make the valve come closer to the piston, during valve chasing. So you could just advance? the intake cam?[DOUBLEPOST=1417028787][/DOUBLEPOST]Reason why I want to use the hyundai cams is because my turbo cams were ruined in my other head.

Also, turbo cams and these hyundai cams have the same lift. I looked.

Anyone?
Pretty important step, dont want to mess it up, and have to do it again. When I timed it like i would a regular 4g63t, I could turn it by hand, feel it make compression. the engine was cold and has a fresh hone and rings, that arent broken in yet, and it would give a little fight.

We run a 1.8l Hyundai head and make 864hp. It is timed just like any other would be.
