Pulled one from the yard to clean sand and paint then replace the gaskets while my old on is still on. I noticed that the Hyndia one has more groves and crossing buldges were the Mitsu one has flat surfaces, do these need to be grinded down to not interfere with my enging?

I had a hyundai one on my old 1G, as far as I remember, don't think mine needed to be grinded.. Although, I can not say for sure..

Did it have all those crossing humps by the spark plugs? It just looks slightly diffrent then the mitsu version.

I'm using that valve cover and other than the crank case modifications I did I didn't have to change anything else. You do either need to use the mounting studs that held it down to the Hyundai or buy longer bolts.

So what do I have to do to my crank case?

I've had 2 of them, no mods needed.

Sorry about being unclear, you do not need to do any modifications. I was just pointing out that mine has a real big vent on the passenger side. This was a completely optional modification on my part. As long as you have the longer bolts this wil fit right on your head.

No modifications but you will need longer bolts or studs with nuts and buy the hyundai valve cover gasket rather than mitsu...I have had one on my car since 2008, no issues.

O ok yea i relized that you had a bigger vent. I only bought this one cause it would be easier to clean paint and regasket and still have my old one on my car, then swap, and do the same to the other if it is not craked and resell.

So The gaskets are not interchangable?

I'm using the mitsu gasket on my car and it is not leaking. I have never heard of needing to use the Hyundai gasket before.

I would imagine they would all fit there the same VC pretty much.

There are 2 versions of the Hyundai cover, look at the pic I posted of my current bay, it uses the standard length bolts and normal mistu gasket, the one SOADweskey posted is like the other one I had, need longer bolts and the spark plug well gaskets need to be wider as the casting has a wider groove. FWIW, I used the mitsu spark plug well gaskets with some RTV and they never leaked.

No mods at all:

Mine is the second one down, it is blank on top but says 16 valve on the bottom. Its had the thread that go through the holes and instead of the bolts that you put in through the top, some im just going to get longer bolts.

Another thing is mine has a 90 degree angle in my vent, so should I hind a way to hack that to make it striaght.

Yeah, for the second one, which is the one i have and the one you have, you need longer bolts and the hyundai gasket is best.

Leave the vent as is, doesn't affect anything.

??? I don't get why people keep saying to use the Studs... I've pulled prob over a hundred G4CP and G4CS Valve Covers (both Hyundai and nicer Hyundai Valve Covers) and not a single one of them had studs. Just a different kind of Bolt that had a wide area, and then a smaller threaded area with a 10mm head and a Rubber "bushing" the bolt is on top of. Which these bolts are longer than the DSM Valve cover bolts by a quarter of an inch.

Also what are these modifications that people are saying you have to make to the valve cover?

A few of mine have been posted on Tuners by numerous Tuners Members.

Here's my current car's.

The car my valve cover came from had it held on with studs and acorn nuts with the rubber washer so I just took them too and used them. Longer bolts will also work just as well, the main thing is that the factory bolts are to short.

And the modification I did had nothing to do with making the valve cover fit, I just needed to better vent blow-by into the crank case caused by running over 30lbs of boost. I only mentioned it at all because the large chunk welded to the valve cover is pretty obvious in pictures and I didn't want the original poster to see it and thing that it was something that needed to be done.

I discourage about 99.99% of engine bays that have been painted differently than the exterior... but this one looks bangin :thumb: that blue looks like it's glowing.

Agree that is pretty sick, and ## engine looks bad ass to. My looks like a pile of sludge and well sludge:(:barf::sosad:

You will not be able to find shoulder bolts that are the proper sizes to work (trust me, I've checked). If you want them, you'll either have to find them from the junkyard or buy them new from Hyundai.
