I feel like this has to be something stupid and simple, but I'm running out of ideas and patience.
I put my HX40 setup on my car in April.
I never had an issue with my car on its 16g setup that ran consistent mid 11's on 23psi. Boost would creep from 23-26psi.
At that time I ran: evo3 16g, 2g manifold /w 38mm wastegate flange added to it, stock o2 housing, tial 2-bolt 38mm wastegate. Flapper welded shut in the hotside. Home-depot made MBC. ETS Street fmic core /w junk homemade piping. modded 1g bov.
Now I have: 7blade HX40 fresh rebuild by Justin, BEP .55ar housing, SIM tubular o2 housing /w 38mm wastegate flange open dump, Tial 38mm MVS V-band wastegate, stock 2g manifold, tial Q bov, Hallman Pro MBC. Punishment Racing FMIC kit /w piping customized for my setup. There's no wastegate flapper or anything.
When I first put the setup on the car in April, I didn't have an MBC on the car. I just ran a 17.4psi wastegate spring. The car though would go to 22psi and creep to 25psi yet felt super slow. Ended up running mid 12's @110-112mph.
I threw an MBC on it, and it'd boost to 25psi and then shoot to 30+psi.
I bought my nice hallman, took the car apart and fixed a bunch of fitment issues with my FMIC piping, modded my piping to fit my old freshly rebuilt N/T throttlebody, etc - put the car back together. Now again, with a 17psi spring in the wastegate and boost controller turned all the way down - I'll get into it and it'll go to 20psi or so and creep a bit and then suddenly shoot to 30+psi.
Now tonight I yanked the wastegate off, took it completely apart - inspected everything. Replaced all my boost vacuum line. Checked the nipple off the turbo for anything out of the ordinary. Took apart the boost controller. Took apart my bov. I changed the wastegate spring to an 8psi spring. I went out and got on it - it started at about 12psi, creeped to 20psi, by 20psi it was at 5000-5300rpm and then it'd shoot to 30psi+ again.
Thing is when it creeps and shoots up - it's not like the car is gaining power. It feels like it's just falling on its face.
I'm at a loss.
is there something stupid I'm overlooking? Here's some random engine bay pictures. Mostly still the same though now I have a nice custom 4" aluminum intake pipe to replace the FP.
