On my HX35 I have a 3/4 NPT barb with a 3/4 oil hose that slips over the stock 1G oil return line (cut). Here's a pic:

Do I need a restrictor? I'm feeding the turbo from my OFH. If so, what's the size needed to go into the turbo? M12x1.5?

Correct.
Oiling gets confusing going through all the posts...
with balance shafts some state 3AN or 4AN from ofh with no restrictors but with BSE 4an with restrictors. (so many threads say this is fine and that is not and yada yada etc...)
It also depends on your draining to adequetely drain. I read many do the 2g drain (bigger than 1g) and use 3/4" hose in the middle. (middle section cut)

Just read a bunch on it as I'm collecting hx35 supplies as well...
@JusMX141 could shine some light as all the threads I read were a bit dated and would love to hear some fresh info from the man himself...

Ok, so M12x1.5 is correct, will this restrictor (middle) work? The reason I ask is that it's different than my TD05 restrictor (LEFT) , which has the smaller hole on the INNER part of fitting. The restrictor side seems backwards on the middle gold one, although I'm not sure it even matters.

It's a -4 AN 4 to M12x1.5 1.5mm with Oil Restrictor :

If you run a 1.5mm (.060") restrictor on a Holset, it's probably not going to last very long. You'll want to open that to at least .080"-.090"....maybe more depending on oil pressure at the inlet.

Most of this is going to depend on the pressure the turbo will actually see. I have an oil pressure gauge inline to my turbo, and according to this image quote:

If i chose to go unrestricted, id be perfectly fine. Id recommend checking your feed pressure and then going for the appropriate sized restrictor, if necessary at all.

Holsets are VERY forgiving with pressure if they're allowed to drain effectively. Once the drain collapses or becomes a restriction if it's undersized, you're going to be chasing your tail on oiling issues that you'll never overcome.

I agree. I run off the OFH with a -4AN line and inline filter which restricts zero pressure. It see's over 80 on cold start and around 25 at idle warm. I drain it with a -12AN drain. It oils perfectly for me, no balance shafts and no oil restrictor for the turbo. Your setup may differ but this works very good for my car.
