So what is the deal with this thing? It's a threaded aluminum flange, and the drain line (The Turbo Trader) has some kind of AN fittings with threads on the end that screw into the flange. It does not seem to have tapered threads or any sort of sealing mechanism. I don't think teflon or thread sealant will work with oil (or will it). It is leaking from both sides where the line screws into the flange so badly that I can even drive the car because oil is burning on the downpipe and makes my car look like a hoopty.

What can I do to fix this? Sealant? Gasket maker? Teflon? JB weld the threads? I KNOW that somebody one this forum must have had this problem and fixed it.

if it's leaking where the flanges meet the oil pan and turbo then you need to make sure it's tight enough there. I always Teflon the oil return line so that it selas up nicely. Make sure you put everything together to a "snug" tightness or else it will start to strip the flanges and fittings and that's never any fun.

Teflon tape will work wonders. Also make sure that the flange and hose are not just hand tight. Don't be afraid to tighten them down. Do you have gaskets from pan to flange and turbo to flange?

Like said above use teflon tape on it.

DO NOT USE TEFLON TAPE!!!! That stuff will get into the oil and possibly clog the turbo, it is always a better idea to use the Teflon liquid, and use it sparingly, you do not need to use the entire tube on the fitting. The threads on that piece that you are talking about are tapered pipe threads by the way.

I have the same oil drain flanges, but socketless hose-type AN fittings, from ExtremePSI, and haven't had any issues with leaking, and I did not use any sealant on the threads. You sure you tightened them enough? And as asked, new gaskets?

Ever think about pushlock setup? Its pretty common nowdays and is a ton easier to replace if it ever does screw up. Its almost as expensive as a stainless hookup of the same size 6an-10an but IMO its worth it.

Josh is right in regards to getting the tape into the oil. I always leave the last 3-4 threads clean and keep the tape towards the bottom to prevent such an event.

I went with the FP blue drain line setup.

Where can I get pushlock fittings that are oil resistant?

Apparently, they were not tight enough. I tightened them and they are not leaking any more. The threads are 1/2 npt so they just needed a little more love to get them sealed. Now that those leaks are fixed I found another big leak where the braided hose goes into the a/n fitting. If I remember correctly, they are a bi*** to push in (I did my fuel lines in -6 an). Don't they have a barb inside? I mean why the hell is it leaking where the hose goes into the a/n fitting? It is right on top of my downpipe and every time I get into the high rpm's my car smokes from under the hood pretty bad. I'm tempted to ghettofy it with ultra copper and call it a day. It's only leaking from the bottom where it goes into the oil pan not on the turbo side. I'm assuming it's because that side has more stress on it from the upwards bend and since that line is hard and has no play it's leaking. I tried pushing it in and with all my might I can't get it to budge. Suggestions? If I can't figure this out, and rtv sealant won't work, I will have to make my own line, which I don't want to since I paid 80 bucks for this damn thing.

Teflon doesn't travel so if you apply it correctly it will not be an issue. Simply wrap it aroun the base of the fitting and only go to the threads. The fittings on the line will not be an issue with teflon either.

I do love the push lock setup. Hell you can go to home depot and buy 1/2" barb fittings that will thread right into your flanges and get some high temp hose and you'll find it's super easy.

That's exactly what I was thinking about doing. Forget about all this fancy shmancy AN crap, all I need is 2 brass hose barbs, two clamps, and some oil line. That is how the oil return on my trans am's supercharger was and I never had a problem.

are you sure its leaking from the oil pan and not the bottom of the turbo? mine was leaking at the bottom of the turbo because it was litterally pushing aginst the motor mount (no matter how much i shaved away) and making it so i couldnt even tighten the bolts. i ordered a special drain fitting that goes to the bottom of the turbo from the turbo trader (i believe) that puts the fitting at a 12 degree angle. this made it clear the motor mount and no more oil leaks...

I am sure it is leaking from the oil pan side. The top flange has an angle to it already. I bought the hose barbs and oil line today. Install and burn 4 tires scheduled for tomorrow.

This problem has been a constant pain in my ass since I installed the return line. I think I finally got the thing to seal right, except it may need a new gasket. Have you guys ever had a gasket that had oil flowing on and through it for so long that it wouldn't seal again? That's what it looks like to me.
