2G how to adjust wastegate actuator

i installed a ebay td05h big 16g ported and my question is, im hitting over 20psi and fuel cutting like crazy once it hits 15psi

i have stock pump and injectors
i installed a godspeed fmic, hard intake piping recirculated and a ebay greddy knockoff bov,
how did u adjust the waste gate actuator to lower to 11 psi?? take off the actuator and adjust the nut so the rod is longer or shorter?

im sure im hitting 20psi because the wastegate actuator was never adjusted,

im also saving for a mbc. 560cc injectors 190lph pump and dsm link right now.

Unfortunately real life doesn't work that way, in theory it works like that though. If the waste gate flapper doesn't open up enough to release enough exhaust gases around the turbine wheel it doesn't matter how you adjust the arm, which is where boost creep comes from.

Remove the waste gate actuator completely from the flapper and go WOT, if you still build boost then you're getting boost creep and nothing you do to that actuator is going to lower boost.

Not sure why we have to keep saying this, here goes anyways: You dont install mods without some kind of engine management. I mean even just a crappy maf translator. Thats the root of your problem right there.

My question is, why did you use all ebay parts? Save up and buy good quality parts either new or used. Check out the classifieds. Atleast buy a mbc to adjust boost or return to stock if unable to set your wastegate.

The adjustment on the arm is to put more tension on the flapper to keep it from opening at higher boost levels. Try loosening it to see if that helps. A standard MHI actuator opens around 10-11 psi (without any type of boost controller), but since you have an ebay turbo you can't expect it to perform the same. A boost controller won't help you in this situation, since it only allows you to raise boost above what the actuator is rated at.

If you can't control your boost, you basically need to take it easy on the pedal, unhook the arm from the flapper and basically be in NT mode, or wait until you upgrade your fuel pump and injectors. While waiting/saving up for your 190 and 560cc injectors, you could always go ahead and re-wire the fuel pump.

One of the problems is it's a eBay turbo. I had a eBay 20g new in the box that came with the car when I bought it. well it needed a turbo and i used it. From day one I was having trouble with the wastegate, I adjusted it a dozen times before taking it off and putting another one on that I had on the shelf. Worked fine after that. About 3 months later I blew the turbo and sucked all the metal from the turbine into the motor. I ended up rebuilding my motor all because of a cheap turbo that I knew better to even put it on. But I did because I was in a rush. So be careful using that turbo and other ebay crap. The eBay bov and wastegate are junk also.

When you say it was a ported, did the wastegate hole get ported? With Ebay turbos you have to port that hole to a decent size. There are plenty of posts to support what I am saying and even a video on youtube on how to do it. There are a lot of people running ebay turbos and do just fine because they ported them the right way. The people that blow the turbos usually just slapped them on straight out of the box.

The hotside was ported I noticed. I'm not sure where else . I need to contact cxracing and ask

You can try porting the WG opening to allow more exhaust gas to bypass the turbine.

I have to ask why youre adding mods when in another thread you state you smell coolant from your exhaust.

The problem isn't likely the actuator's tension- you probably have boost creep.

I changed my turbo because the old t25 was bad.. i got a big16g..

I think I smell coolant.. has some white smoke.. theres no mixing of oil and coolant. This is the next projeCT I get fixed after I fix my boost leaks and get my boost below to 15psi I drive the car daily.. by no mean do I have time to rip the head off when I have a full time job to drive to

Well the boost easily reaches 20psi Evan after fuel cutting at 15.. makes no sense unless the wastegate isn't adjusted correctly since it's a ebay turbo.

What sort of boost controller do you have? And how is your BOV hosed up?
Also- Double check for boost leaks. Especially after putting on a FMIC? It's possible that there is a loose clamp or a boost leak some place causing the creep and fuel cut.

i know I have boost leaks.. in my jpipe I have a hole. Boost leak tester is being shipped to my house any day now. But i want a way to lower boost until I can afford 560s and 190lph fuel pump and dsmlink

Take an air compressor and blow air into the hose that's going to the waste gate actuator and see if its opening.

You obviously don't have a firm understanding of what boost creep is, how it's caused, or how it's prevented.

You should not be driving this car until you can fix this properly. You are on a quick path to posting threads about rebuilding an engine. The basic advice given should be taken before you continue modding.

You are contradicting yourself, you can't ask how to fix your car in one aspect if it's not up to par mechanically. you are hitting fuel cut and having boost creep issues because you have BOOST LEAKS. Turbo'd cars have to be kept up maintenance wise and free of boost leaks in order to run properly. you say you are hitting 20psi even while you are hitting fuel cut at 15psi. So you are obviously giving it gas and not "babying it." And it's obviously not running "fine" if you smell coolant and are hitting fuel cut. Without being able to control your boost and hitting fuel cut multiple times you risk detonating your motor. Be careful is all i can suggest. You can also have a blown head gasket without having your oil and coolant mix, there are other water jackets that could be leaking. If its your work vehicle maybe it needs some lovin so it stays reliable and can get you to and from work so you don't lose your job. That's none of my business tho.

As for just driving it as is i would do what Ramenpride states;

The less you drive it the better. Find the "coolant leak" get down to the basics and make sure its running right from square one before you throw a bunch of "go fast" parts on and blow your sh*t up. Just sayin..

IM NOT trying to put go fast parts.
I changed the turbo because the stock t25 was blown when I bought this car few months ago.. I got it for 800$ with a bad alternator broken windshield and a bad turbo. aslo bad motor mounts.

im already 2000 $ in on maintenance and I installed a 16g and fmic first. I know I have boost leaks. I have a boost leak tester coming soon and I already have a brand new j pipe as well as some piping coming, all im asking is how to turn down the boost so I can safely drive it till I can afford the headgasket + timing service. ive been quoted 500 dollars with the timing belt kit done. I haven't been quoted for the headgasket yet. the motor mounts I was quoted about 225 from a trans guy.

I just want to fix my boost creep or limit the boost.
and yes I did wot test it.. I saw fuel cut at 15psi.. I kept on it to see how high the boost went and went to 20psi. I don't do this everyday.. was a once in a time thing,. im still learning about this car. people told me to buy a manual boost controller and I know that wont work. that's to raise the boost. I do believe that the ebay cx racing big 16g ported has a adjustable wastegate actuator and I never adjusted it before I installed it. so this weekend im going to remove the arm.. adjust it to be longer to see if my boost wont go over 15psi. I know exactly where my leaks are because I created them with the install of the jpipe. I didn't have a nipple on the j pipe so I drilled a hole and put one with jb weld to seal it but it doesn't work. was only temporary. once my boost leaks are fixed and boost is controlled ill be taking it in for service.
after service is done. in come the 560cc injectors and a 190lph fuelpump and ill be getting a eprom ecu with dsmlink v3 and learning all about that. the post is asking how to adjust waste gate actuator and I asked only because I wasn't sure if u lengthen it or shorten.
