well since i cant find a decent gsx, i was thinking about looking into the gst's

my bro has a 92 gst and it was a nice little car, but all he ever did to it was an exhaust LOL

this might be kinda of a stupid question, but i was wondering

400hp gst and 400hp gsx? (weighing 3300 gsx, 2800 gst)

what would be the average time difference? is it a big difference?

because i was also looking into a 240sx, and turbocharging the ka24de

(cant find a decent sr20, people are asking way to much for cars with it)

then my next question would be fwd 400hp and a rwd 400hp car? (same weight around 2800)
what would be the time differences?

Stick with the DSM's n00b. And AWD is 100% better than FWD unless you do highway runs.

AWD will be more reliable at launching with 400hp while FWD will be a little tough keeping traction.

It all comes down to which one can hold the power down to the ground which the awd should have the advantage.

Do you look on cr? I always find stock 2g gsx down there and sac. I would keep a eye out and wait for one to pop up.

I own both a 1g AWD and a 1g FWD. I got the FWD first because I couldn't find a worthy AWD. The AWD is all stock minus the exhaust since I just got it. The FWD has a little done to it. It's still on the factory 14b turbo, and at 13psi it has problems keeping traction in 2nd, once I turn the boost up more there is no doubt it won't have traction in 3rd gear. A lot does have to do with the tires I am running though. But I do like that it is a little less maintenance due to not having a transfer case, and rear end to up keep. The gearing is also taller in the FWD, that does help a little with gas mileage. I can be going 60 mph and the tach will be around 2500 rpms, while the AWD will be right at 3000rpms going 60 mph.

But to break it down, if you want a fast car then go AWD, you will hook so much better it's not even funny. If you're looking for something just to mess around with and do a little to then a FWD will be fine. It all really depends on your goals.

This is funny since they both contain the same motor .... but agree with the FWD for having the straight line power since it doesn't have that extra drivesaft and more gears to spin which does hog some power ... but, you'd get the wheel hop real bad with FWD if the rear end isn't aiding in pushing the vehicle as the front end is pulling the vehicle at the same time.

When you 'bend' the power 90 degrees in using a drive shaft and rear end differential, you really lose a lot of power (along with more fuel)... this is why FWD became the norm for vehicles: smaller motors with the same driven wheel HP as a RWD that would require larger motors to produce the same driven wheel HP.

It's all about economy..

Big downfall with FWD was the towing potiental since you can't tow anything using a FWD since there is no power to the rear wheels to aid in towing that trailer behind the frame.

Yea AWD for life. FWD are nice for up keep, and less weight. But the awd feels so much better with the power. I personally have own fwd turbo, awd turbo, and rwd supercharged and my gsx just pulls so hard that its unbelievable. If your gonna just drive around and have a quick street car then you could do a GST, But if you want great power control then go with the GSX.

Ahh your profile says you have a 95' Gsx.

From a dig a GSX will pull ahead but due to the higher gearing (as stated above) a GST will catch up and overcome a GSX. A buddy of mine (95 GSX w/ full exhaust on a 14b) and me (99GST w/ a 16g no other mods) would mess around, on a closed course and everytime I would pass him by top of 3rd gear. Take that for whats its worth I guess!.

LOL ye i was nearly gona get a decent 95 white gsx, soon enough when i called it was sold LOL

but yea i guess il just wait around for a gsx to pop out

thanks guys

There is a silver one in town. Paypal me some cash and I'll check it out for you. It's a 2gb! Clean body but it's at a shop so I don't know if it's for sale. GSX are rare in my town only with the exception of 1 ex member on here whom sold it.
I don't really want to tell anyone until i check it out because I might sell my gst for it.
But with gsx comes more maintenance! Stock mitsu times has the gsx at a faster time. I think it's within .2 secs of each other. But in reality proper maintenance is key. Honestly I don't even think fwd or awd matters. I hella crack up when I see honda's rip evo's and gsx of the line at the LEGAL drag strips!

edit: I was kidding about the paypal! LOL

GSX is a slug off of the line for just normal driving. Some of you may disagree but stock for stock GSX doesnt get up and going like a GST.. Ive driven both.....

if you look at edmunds or whatever its called they broke down both the gst and gsx stock. And overall because the gst weighs a couple hundred pounds less and only has to put power to 2 wheels instead of 4 the gst would be faster in the 1/4 mile stock.

When looking at both of them being stock, or slightly more powerful....Traction loss with the FWD would be more sought after than the bog of a launch with the AWD. Plus with the FWD putting more power to the wheels and there being less friction, another plus for FWD.

AWD all day!! Don't Fall into the trap of the "SR20-240SX" Be BOLD, Be DIFFERENT!!!! You launch an AWD car the right way and you will never drive a FWD ever again. GST is a good car don't get wrong but its just something about it. And a side note, AWD is a blast in the snow LOL

the key to good FWD is stiff rear suspension, LSD, low torque, and a good set of tires will get go a long way. my stock 92gst is running 14lbs and doesnt want to hook up second hardly at all. but yet again its bone stock with upped boost.
